Yair Lapid's peace-process doublespeak

Israeli who thinks about the Peace Process in similar and equally vague terms.

There's no there, there. Although several of the 19 are a lot more progressive than he is.

During his campaign he was trying to be all things to all people to the left he was the peacenick, to the right he would not give up jerusalem etc etc. To the secular he ws I am going to have a forced hared enlistment and just about all the other anti religion stuff the seculars like to hear and to the religious he was no I don't dislike the religious look I even got a rabbi in my party. Now since he won so many seats he has made it very clear already that his priority is going to be laying the groundwork for him to be the next PM. It doesn't matter if it would be disastrous for the country but was just what he needed to win an election he would make up a seemingly good excuse and push forward with it. If it was a miracle policy that would solve all the countries problems overnight but the result was he would not win the next election he would be against it. Lapid is an example of all thats bad in the coalition system.

Even if Israel were to give away Jerusalem and withdraw from every last inch of the West Bank, we would still not get peace in return and the peace talks would still blow up, because the Palestinians insist on the right of return which means the destruction of Israel within a generation. It is also clear that we are facing a racist entity, where it is a capital offense to sell land to a Jew, where Jews may not be citizens, which refuses to recognize that Israel is the homeland of the Jewish people and whose official version is that the Jews asked Hitler to murder their relatives in Europe. And yet this racist entity, which is doing all that it can to win a state without giving peace in return, is winning hands down against our appalling attempts to present our case. So yes we need to invest in explaining ourselves, and yes we have to get out of the areas that will obviously never be part of Israel so that we stop ruling over another people and being responsible for their needs. And everything else is open for negotiation afterwards, We recognize that no Palestinian leader can give up on East Jerusalem and the right ofrerturn of refugees, half of whom were never Palestinian in the first place - whcih si why we have to keep Jerusalem until they negotiate away their demand to destroy Israel
