I have to say that the one thing that shocked me most during the two years that I spent in Israel was the inflationary use of the word "to kill". I cannot recall how many times close friends or just random people told me about their desire "to kill the Arabs", "kill the leftists", "kill the African immigrants" or simply kill everyone you don't agree with, everyone you don't like the look of, everyone who might pose a threat. I was shocked to discover that racism and incitement are openly tolerated in Israel, even encouraged. Nonetheless, I have met some Israelis, who against the odds have managed to keep an open mind, and I admire them for their courage to speak their mind. I think Israel's only hope is that these moderates can fight back the extremists who are now running the country and renew Israel's hope for a peaceful future.

It's just not clear to me that Jabari valued life. He was generally considered to be severely religious, and I question if he was concerned with mortality. It turns out that rational thought and reason fail to lead to useful endpoint if people are willing to die for there beliefs.

Im reading this site more and more as its the only Isreali one I have found. It was a relief to find it and see something " sane " coming out of Isreal. The BBC is so unfettering in its support for Isreal , RT from Russia so against the " Zionist Agressor " yadda yadda ,, so much of our press is polarized so its interesting to see some press within Isreal ask questions.. im guessing many on this site , its readers are dismissed as apologists and leftist cooks though ... Our world is becoming just as polarized as the middle east where the only thing that counts is serving up increasing numbers of cliches and regurgitations of the party line.
