Victory of ultra-nationalists in Israel will estrange American Jews

And why should US Jews have to follow the words and whims of the Zionist lobby? What is in it for them but the contempt and scorn of most of the rest of the world, as they blindly follow the neocolonialist agenda.

"American Jews", observant or not are mostly affiliated with the Reform movement - Quakers with yamakas - their anti-war views case in point. They see Israel with its constant and inconclusive wars (it must be added) as embarassing when dealing with gentile liberals who otherwise share most of their opinions. .

Any American Jew who supports Israel no matter what because it is a Jewish country is complicit in all the shameful things it does to non-Jews. If they didn't go along with all those crimes, Israel would have to reconsider its actions. Would they agree with an American Muslim who supported Iran because it's a Muslim countries

Just wondering if a Jew speaks out against the ultra-nationalist extremist IsraelI government, are they considered "anti-Semitic"? I love all people but will continue to speak out against an unjust government who acts illegally and brutally towards the inhabitants of the land the occupy illegally.

Is it democracy when a tiny minority fights to take back a country from a large majority? Is this writer wishing a coup d'état on Israel?

Why then is it the racist parties that are garnering the numbers in the upcoming election? Where are progressive ideas being implemented into policy? The reverse is true. The only true alternative in Israeli politics would be if Hadash gained a significant number of seats in the Knesset. That is not even talked about in the press. Israel is becoming more Jewish and less and less democratic. It is not an under its present regime does not want to become a government for all its citizens. As we witness a further deterioration in basic rights even among Jews who voice active opposition against the right wing regime we are seeing a reality forming that is neither Jewish nor democratic, just another government of tribal, ethnic demogagory.
