The silence after the lynch of Israel's Arabs

I've seen more and more open support for Kahane and his ideals lately on the right-wing sites. There is no shame or trepidation about making their support known, no stigma, no fear of being seen as a racist/ethno-supremacist. This is the current in Israel that is not being curbed, so one has to seriously look at that and the fact that it is being promulgated and encouraged within Israel proper (not the illegal settlement/colonies in Palestine). But this was bound to happen to a group that has taught itself for 2,000 years that it is superior to the goyim. So no actual surprise that there are such vicious attacks against the 'other' (goyim). It was bound to happen and honestly, it shows the true face of the self-proclaimed 'chosen ones:' extremely ugly and disgusting. Don't like it? CHANGE!

My theory to this phenomenon is that it only shows the absence of Jewish education in the lives of Israeli families. Children no longer get it in their "mother's milk". It has been replaced by the common Western values. which spin around materialism and sentiments of personal re-enforcement, but which are void of spirituality. The significance of religious Ethics in our daily lives ---both that of Christianity and Judaism--- have immensly diminished not only in Israel, but in the West, too, in the past decades and been replaced by the modern materialist New Age values, which emphasize narcisstic individualism and actually claim that "man is god"! This means that "right" is whatever an individual in his limited understanding comprehends as right". With this kind of philosophy we are lost. Teaching this or letting it insidiuously flow into our lives through entertainment industry and media to mold our minds, is dangerous, bc it will turn new generations into "Rambos" and "Terminators", who are all muscle but no brain, no spirit. Strength is admired and has replaced the Ethics, bc the modern Western world aspires to free itself from the conscience that the Ethics give to us. With a conscience we namely 'd not be able to make wars or invade other peoples'' countries, do evil to them, so giving preferance to strength serves a political purpose; it makes easier to the political leaders to do unethical acts and get the masses to support them. IDF has a reputation to be the most ethical army in the world, this it has proved by warning in advance the civilians (in Gaza and in Leb) on its coming strikes and thus we sigh with relief that its conscience is still there ...? But for how long? If Israeli youth start "practising" violence on innocent Israeli minorities and dehumanizing them, then all the alarm bells 'ld be off at the IDF, bc these youth will serve in the IDF!!! HELLO! -- Children no longer are taught to become "Good Samaritans", who help their fellow men, but self-centered, goal orientated achievers, who in the spirit of Darwinism and through Machiavellism mow down those they perceive as "weak" or "helpless" or just because they can, bc they do not see "the other" as a human being. I believe that a spiritual person, who knows the difference between "right and wrong" hardly uses violence to another person, bc morality works as breaks, which hold the person back from doing evil and dehumanizing the other, but then again this 'd not be beneficial to the politicians' political purposes. For this reason exactly: that Israel 'd not become like other nations in this regard, the Haredi-soldiers are badly needed in the IDF in order to introduce the Ethics of warring (which btw are in the Torah) to the IDF and keep the Israeli Army (we 'd like to be proud of) ethical.

Uri, you failed to mention that no Israeli/Jewish religious authority has publically condemned the racist attacks. And these are the folks that claim to hold the moral high ground!!

Article sounds very ominous. If this situation is true, it is ironically similar to the way Jews were treated in Germany in the 1920s and 1930s. I guess the older generations need to teach the younger generation lessons of the past so that the cycle of ignorant hate can be broken.

This is not a situation that has come up all of the sudden, it is an ongoing phenomenon that is based on the fallacy that Jews are not only better than Palestinians, but that they are better than anyone else. Being one of gods chosen people gives you certain privileges like hating and demeaning the Palestinians in their own land and homes. So why the surprise at the action, or rather inaction, of the officials ? It was, is and will always be a tacit policy that is even taught at home, if you are Jewish, and the Palestinians are reciprocating with hate to everything Israeli. The deep religious delusion that god will protect Israel no matter what, has a certain effect that would entice people to go beyond any limits of reason or human interaction on this earth. Thanks Haaretz for trying to open people's eyes to something the world should have left behind after the tragedies the Nazis inflected on many.

When Israel will face an international backlash against its behaviour and if Israel thinks it won't then it is completely and utterly naive. When it comes no-one will lift a finger to help Israeli jews or jews in the diaspora. Everyone will clearly see them to be the authors of their own misfortune, for failing to abide by International Law and Israels signed agreements and instead opting to support Israels criminality either by silence of active vocal support of settlements,Occupation,theft of resources and active aggression against a defenceless people.

The differences in perceptions of a specific people by others exist in some form in all countries and states, sometimes more visible, sometimes more consistent. And this is how we as the mankind supposedly being the most intelligent of life forms supposed to treat ourselves? supposed to do? I am an Indian, and have seen such perceptions or prejudices being held even within different sections of people in my country itself. I hold the Jewish people as a extremely ancient and intelligent race - while I talk of intelligence, I am also talking of using that wisely and in balance to the rest of the humans, and life forms. While of talk of ancient, I talk of a race that can provide the the 'right path' as the direction to the rest of us. Suggest you as part of the great country of Israel to upkeep and uplift this, rather than trying to prove otherwise through all this bad intolerance. Arab or Jew or Indian or American, all have two eyes, one nose, a mouth, blood and flesh and no tail. So can we be simply the humankind?

There is nothing more annoying to me as a reader than an author who uses informaton to support an argument AGAINST their own attention-grabbing headline. Your headline speaking of "silence" and the first sentence "no one stood up" which is echoed a few times later falls to bits when you then follow with the information that not only have the PROPER and involved authorities stood up and spoken out but ADDITIONALLY they have seen to justice. The guilty parties have been arrested and dealt with. Does the act of actual justice mean so little to you? Had you rather hear rehtoric? You're not happy that the "right people" have not spoken out? Why be upset that the minister of education, of all people, has not passed comment? Surely the Minister of Justice, who did speak out, is more noteworthy and carries more influence. What could speak louder than the guilty being punished????? Who are you and who thinks it's good to pay a pot-stirrer?

Since silence is implied acquiescence, the government leaders who fail to publicly condemn these dangerous, atrocious acts of racism are culpable by default - for past and especially for future incidents such as these. In order to avoid an escalation and entrenchment of this climate of permissibility which encourages an increase in hate-crimes, a strong public stand must be taken by political leaders across the ideological spectrum. History has shown where this silent bystander effect can lead.

If you treat Palestinian as second class citizens, don't be surprised to see young Jewish Israelis, who have been through the Zionist brainwashing machine, act like racist brutes. Where are all those decent Israelis who should be protesting against this disgusting racism and forcing the government to act? Where are they??? I am afraid that apart from a courageous few too many Israelis have got used to the daily racism, the small apartheid in Israeli society. You don't need signs reading "For Jews only" to know that Israel is fast becoming a racist apartheid state. Better turn things around before Israel becomes a failed state without legitimacy.
