The government vs. the Knesset
Avigdor Lieberman calls his proposal to raise the threshold for a party to enter the Knesset “strengthening governability,” but it sounds more like the tyranny of the majority and weakening the checks and balances inherent in the Israeli system of government.
The head of the Yisrael Beiteinu faction, Avigdor Lieberman, is not pleased with the state of governability in Israel. Although the government has won the Knesset’s confidence, distributed portfolios to the ministers and serves as the executive authority, this does not seem to satisfy Lieberman.
