Health care systems in both Europe and Israel are better than in the United States. Whoever needs some kind of psychiatric aid in our countries gets it. Therefore many people can own firearms, but nobody would ever enter a school building and open fire.

I don't know the actual numbers, but don't Israelis have massive amounts of guns per person? While I too am against assault rifles for civlians in America, I do blame the culture much more than weapons. America also has a very high rate of non-gun related murders. I think we're just a much more aggressive culture than western Europe.

The US is a violent country. It kills people by the thousands on a regular basis and its preferred manner of dealing with its opponents is to destroy their regimes. During the presidential elections Obama boasted that he personally supervised the drone attacks and gave the orders which killed thousands of non-combatants in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Yaman. That's where the change should start. How can you blame ordinary killers when their chief glamorizes it?
