Mr Arens, I have always respected you as a very intelligent person and while we are not from the same political camp I usually enjoy reading your columns. However the fallacies in your premise are so glaring that I can't believe you don't see them yourself. How can you compare the situation of the Palestinians refugees after the 1948 war with the defeated Germans and Japanese? Where was the Marshal Plan for them? What country were they citizens of? The Germans still had Germany, albeit split into east and west, the Japanese still had Japan.

The Zionists were taking over their land, what were the Palestinians supposed to do, just say thank you?

I always wondered about that. My mother was from East Prussia. A refugee in Germany. Nobody was thinking about returning to Kalinigrad. May be the Palestinians want to 'return' because life in Israel looks better than life in the Arab countries where they reside now.
