Helllo! Greek Americans, Italian-Amercans, Serbian Americans, and others feel a kindship to the culutres that their parents and grandparents brought with them. There are even universities that specialize in studes that focus on thier ethnicities . . . even groups that don't have their "own nation", as the Basque Studies in Navada where there is a large number of that national group. So . . . . it is possible to identiry with some other nation and be a loyal American, though some Jews are so busy to assimilate we forget to look and learn what happens with the ethnics around them.

Worshipping the God of Israel is not about land-grabs or wars - it is about worshipping him in Spirit and in Truth. God is not taking sides - He's taking souls! Tragically, the secular left understand this principle far better than Torah-thumping right.

The dreadful irony is that if Israelis lived elsewhere the chances are that they would hate living under a fundamentalist government where everyone who did not belong to the majority group felt threatened. Yet in Israel this is the sort of government they want. One that takes someone else's land to provide the majority group with lebensraum and treats its minority citizens as less equal.

Of course, noone has ever suggested that Jews "can never live anywhere but in the land of Israel". You've missed the point of the song -- that the Jewish people has no other homeland, not that individual Jewish persons can't live in other countries, which is a silly idea that noone has advanced. It may well be that you know so little of Jewish history and culture that the only link you understand between our traditions and our homeland is the fact three generations ago, many Jews returned to Israel. If so, you are indeed better off living elsehwere. Those who have a more personal connection to history, on the other hand, well understand the words of the song.
