Diamonds from Africa, ginger from the settlements

it is good that at least discussion about the origin of diamonds are now being actively discussed. I hope that all countries make a shift towards strict regulation of where traded diamonds come from.

Consumers in Europe in large buy what fits in terms of taste and price. Also is exporting less and less argicultural products and more high tech. The issue won't even be minimal, and for sure it will not bring any solutions to thje conflict. The conflict can only be resolved if you have willing partners on both sides ! Obviously Abu Mazen, who's term is up since ages is not willing.

European governments are not the only ones who stop short of applying more then symbolic pressure on Israel. Even Jewish peace organisations - certainly in the diaspora - who seek a 2-state settlement generally hold fire on adopting any initiative which goes beyond voicing their opposition. Why - because the first thing they ask themselves is whether it would divide Jews at home. Almost always they decide it will and fail to even ask the second question, how will it help to move the government towards ending the occupation. What a shame that the order of the questions is not switched around.
