Contempt for peace

This article must be a joke or are you living in Chelm? Israel does not respect treaties or agreements? You must be talking about the Arabs. They are the ones not respecting treaties and its the pals who are constantly bombing us along with Hezbollah. Wake up and open your eyes to see the truth!

"we do have an idea of what being at war is like, yet we still have the deepest contempt for peace." being at war is not an "idea," it's a chronic, lived experienced-- multi-generational, part of the nervous system of each individual, and to some degree has had beneficial roles forming identities of people and the country. therefore it is extremely difficult to part with, no matter if there are aspects to it that are obviously unpleasant. when we hold onto to pain, allowing the experience of peace in is very very difficult. so, yes, of course contempt. and there are many tight, unkind, contemptuous men and women who have never let peace in, and grip onto life and claim their trials are the thing that made them strong and survive into old age and in israel surviving is what counts.

"no respect for the peace treaty with Egypt and the one with Jordan" to what is the writer referring, apart from her own imagination? there may be some sound points here, but they are lost in a wave of self-hate and propaganda. Haarezt really needs better commentators if they want to make a difference.

And it means that Israelis will need to keep their eyes to the ground as they pass in front of the rest of the world. We cannot respect you.

people like you are exactly why israel will continue to suffer.how dare u even think that we dont want or respect peace.i saw a video today on an egyptian news channel showin president morsi prayin in mask for the death of jews.peace u say ??? how much land did we give back ? how much peace did we get in return??? its very beutifull to believe in peace but it takes 2 to tango and as long as you think ONLY ISRAEL is to blame then we will suffer.YOU arw bringinf israel down drom the inside.when will jews remeber that hasidi, conservative or liberal we all are family and must not divide our people but be as one.im completly seculare and have marched for peace during "rabin oslo",durin "sharon disegament", but i will not be as naive as you anymore.try living abroad for a couple years .maby u need it in order to remeber and realise who you are.
