Bombshell for the settlement enterprise in Levy report

The Arabs residing in Palestine never had any political rights. They were ruled by the Ottoman Empire and others. They never had self rule. At San Remo the French tried to enlarge the savings clause that saved the Arabs civil and religious rights but their proposed amendment failed. They couldn't preserve the Arabs' political rights because they never had any to preserve. Even Rashid Khalidi recognizes that the Arabs were ignored when it came to recognizing political rights at San Remo. See: The Iron Cage

Kretzmer claims the Levy Report ignores the "political rights" of the Arabs in the so called "West Bank". But the San Remo Resolution recognized that when the Jews obtained legal dominion over the political rights in Palestine -- when they obtained a population majority -- the only rights of the non-jews were their civil rights and their religious rights. This is the formulation of the Balfour Declaration, adopted also in the cession of Ottoman sovereignty over Palestine in Article 95 of the Treaty of Sevres, and in the Mandate for Palestine. At San Remok, the French attempt to insert political rights in the Mandate were rejected according to Stein's classic work on the Balfour Declaration. Instead, the French and others accepted a process verbal saying the savings clause did not require the surrender of any rights of the non-Jews. This was OK because the non-Jews local to Palestine had never had any political rights. The non-Jews in Palestine had never exercised sovereinty in Palestine. It had always been ruled from afar.

The reason why the settlements became popular was it was a way for the poorer Jews to have free land, have cheap labor, and subsidies, and that's why they voted for Likud. Likud would give them more of that. The Russians who move in there also benefit. They don't care what happens to the Palestinians anymore than white settlers in America when they seized land, and Israel does it with American support.

Judea and Samaria can be a territory like Puerto Rico is to the US. Any level of sovereignty can be instituted. It's Israel's land, it's Israel's decision. Don't buy the "all or nothing" con.

When Israel left Gaza, terrorist attacks went up. You think Israel is Israel is just going to leave Judea and Samaria now when the Palestinians are so much closer to Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem without some sort of promise of non-aggression to hold the Palestinian to? Hamas was elected into power, that shows what the Palestinians support.

The next day it was attacked by many countries including Jordan, which occupied Israeli Land. Remember these e arab countries were also created byEuropean decree, so who is valid and who isn't. this isn't so cut and dry.
