When Yair Lapid says he admires Muhammad Ali, he should remember why Ali became a role model. The boxer was a courageous conscientious objector, exactly the kind that Lapid, would surely find appalling.

Yair Lapid admires Muhammad Ali. In a television interview with Ofer Shelah − today No. 6 on Lapid’s party slate − that was broadcast about a year ago, Lapid defined Ali as his cultural hero. He once wrote in his newspaper column that Ali was “the icon of the oppressed, the miserable, those of whom even their mothers have despaired.”
