Well, strategically, having the network in the US is important in at least one respect: it heavily covers what Americans' antagonists and enemies are thinking and doing. As long as Americans go into the matter with an understanding of what Al Jazeera is, I think they can gain from Al Jazeera a better understanding of how to confront anti - Americanism and anti - Westernism by looking both forces straight on.

Why don't you guys watch Aljazeera live at www.aljazeera.net/English and decide for yourself. The ones who are attacking Aljazeera , are the same ones who think Fox News ( Ruppert Murdoch) is fair and balanced with No spin....

We have been watching Al Jazeera (English) for several years. It is balanced, thoughtful, and broadcasts excellent documentaries - among the best I have ever seen. We switched to it from the BBC World Service some time ago. It beats all local (Canadian) channels. Americans must learn to ignore the Jewish thought police!

Protected by our Constitution, the right to express your opinions. When Al-Jazeera becomes all functional, perhaps the other side of the story will be known as well with all the spins of the free press.

America is a capitalist country and Al Jezeera bought the channel with real money. Quit whining. If you want to get rid of it, boycott every company that advertises on the channel and it will quickly shut down. Trying to destroy Capitalism and freedom is speech is not the answer.

Kirchick's extraordinary defamation of Al Jeezera bears no relation to the news and documentary station I watch most days. The English language channel goes out of its way to be even-handed even when covering Israel/Palestine conflict and the quality of the journalism matches that of the BBC, but with a much wider global scope. If Fox News and Russia Today score 1 out of 10, Al Jeezera (English) deserves 9.
