Two couples, Sara and Benjamin Netanyahu, and Yair Lapid and Naftali Bennett, are playing a game of bridge over the country's future. The alliance between the Netanyahus is natural and “kosher,” as it is set in Jewish law. But the partnership between Lapid and Bennett is as awe-inspiring as the connection between sushi and matzo balls. They are united by a common, if thin thread: drafting Haredim into the army....

Your article is simplistic and misses the main point for both parties. For Bennet its not just the question of drafting Haredim, its a question of the balance between Religious Zionist and Charedim in the country. 40 years ago the religious Zionist were the controlling group in power and thought in the religious world in this country, over the past 40 years the Haredim have grabbed their place. This is their chance to reassert themselves. As to Lapid the unequal share of the national budget that has allowed the Haredi communities to grow and to keep growing taking ever higher amounts of the budget while not returning anything to the society, either in service to the country or in taxes, is one of the key burdens that Middle Class in this country bears. Thus having a government without them allows the country to deal with this long-term problem.
