A battle over identity

Where is Israel's soul ? Is it how Bennett see Israel's highness ? Is it how the right sees democracy ? A democracy has to act for all of its citizens, whoever they are. Is democracy nothing for the right ? Habayit Hayehudi and Likud are so cheap in defending this poor nationalist law... Instead of highness and faith for democracy, it shows narrow-mindedness. I am a French Jew who is always on Israel's side for two reasons : I am on democracy's side and I defend zionism. How could I defend this law ? Believe me I won't.

The Greeks are credited with the invention of what the West calls democracy. But their slaves did not participate in the democratic process. Today over 2500 years later Israel has a hold on a Greek form of democracy, i.e, democracy for Jews only. Regressions do occur in any age but they do not endure.

Apropos the "building of communities for members of other religions", please remember that there are a lot of Christians here who are NOT Arabs or Arabic speakers. They count too because they are also citizens. It's not just about the Arabs.
