Sir Martin Gilbert, a Jewish Knight and Hero of Soviet 'Refuseniks'

For many Russian Jews, Gilbert was and will remain a champion for the right to emigrate from the Soviet Union and join the people of Israel – a right they were often refused.

On February 3, an outstanding British historian and author of over 80 books, Sir Martin Gilbert, passed away at the age of 78 in London.
