ISTANBUL - A summer wind blew over one of the two giant Turkish flags flying in Taksim Square near the statue of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey. On the other side of the square, dozens of armed police were still sitting in buses with barred windows. The water cannons remained at the ready.
