Natural gas' contribution to improving Israel's environment is of paramount importance. To get the maximum benefit from this resource, which pollutes less than other fuels, enough of it must be held in reserve for a wide variety of issues.
For many years the Israeli government was a doormat trampled on by privately owned corporations that were generously allowed to exploit the country’s natural resources. They paid small royalty payments and determined the pace and manner in which they used those resources, based on their own interests.
