Yedidia Stern drops out of race for attorney general

Stern says he has withdrawn candidacy due to decision not to split AG's position into two.

Professor Yedidia Stern, one of the four short-listed candidates for position of attorney general, has withdrawn his candidacy despite support for his nomination from Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman.

Stern announced Wednesday morning that he is dropping out of the race following the decision not to split the position into two at present.

Stern's announcement also comes after Haaretz revealed that Neeman appears to have a serious conflict of interests with regard to Stern.

The two are personal friends who have taken several holidays together to Courchevel, a luxury ski resort in the French Alps, in recent years. Yet Neeman failed to report these ties to the cabinet.

There must be a kasher restaurant in Courchevel. Let's hope that the AG, when the appointment is finalized, will be someone for whom justice is a priority.
