With Putin trying to draw the eyes of the world to Russia for the Olympics, Chechen rebels have their opportunity to ruin the party a bit.

The Russian city of Volgograd (formerly Stalingrad), which has seen two major terror attacks in recent days, is over 600 kilometers north of Sochi where the 2014 Winter Olympics are opening in February. Yet in Russia, the deaths of 31 civilians are seen as directly connected to the ski and ice-skating festival about to take place on the shores of the Black Sea.
