Police launched a murder investigation Wednesday morning just hours after a dead woman's body parts were found in a garbage bin that was set alight on a street in Ramat Gan.
Police and firefighters were summoned to the scene at approximately 1:00 A.M. after receiving a report of a burning garbage receptacle. Shortly afterwards, the firefighters noticed the dismembered body inside the bin.
"At approximately 1:00 A.M., a woman passed by here with a man, saw the fire, and extinguished it," a witness told Israel Radio. "She saw a part of the body, called the police, and ran away from the scene."
Forensic experts arrived at the scene and began investigating the matter.
