What is with all these Palestinian sympathizers?! Has this world gone completely insane! For all of those who are continually JUSTIFYING the accusations of those imprisoned for attempted murder and terrorist involvement...I would like to know exactly what crime Shalit committed! If you are one who will rather sympathize with a PRISONER who committed a CRIME, than a HOSTAGE who is innocent...than you are a monster. And I would like to remind you all, since it is so quick for you to declare their innocence, that neither do YOU have any idea of their crimes as well. Now, why don't you declare a FATWA ON ME!!! As someone who does not affiliate with either side, I hate thinking that a group of people are only a pack of monsters, but it seems to be shown to me time and time again...
JB:"In the case of Jihad Abu-Turki it means "approaching a checkpoint with a knife in a bag" which in most other countries is "carrying a concealed weapon" but is not, in itself, "attempted murder"." She also admitted that she planned to carry out a murder with that knife.... which makes it a bit more than carrying a concealed weapon. Conspiracy to murder perhaps, Easily worth 5-10 years anywhere else. Did you miss that bit?
Shalit is worth thousends of Arabs dead if posible but let this hainas go so they don't have to be fed by Israelis taxpayers, let them it sand...
taken right off of court records and devoid of circumstance. what's more telling than anything is that the sentences themselves reflect mitigating circumstances. and any way you look at it, IF these women were "dangerous"...or considered REAL terrorists; their sentences would reflect it! and look at the relatively heavy sentences for membership in a banned org.? there's several of those; these are common confessions coerced from detainees... everybody's heard of the idf's infamous detentions; right? and most of the ladies are near the end of their sentences anyway? personally, i LOVED seeing that the one was released weds. due to a "mistake made at the prisons department". "mistake"? she was released "due process" for good behavior! the prison got word of the swap too late! lol! on a more sober note, i wonder what her "records" WOULD have reflected; "sentence reduced for good behavior", or "released in prisoner exchange". so they had to cough up another one!...lol. that would be #20 i take it..."held without bail pending trial for membership in an illegal organization and disturbing the peace"--in other words, she was probably a detainee rounded up during a protest march. everybody IS aware of the difference, right?; between a detainee and a person arrested for a crime?
Dear Mr. Lange. Occupation means only if one state actually occupies territory of another state. The land the Palestinians live belongs to them individually e.g. property rights. There is no state which has sovereignity rights over the land in totality. If Mr.X wants to sell parcell of his own land in USA to Mr.Abbas US Goverment will say "NO" because land belongs to Mr.X but sovereignity over it to US Goverment. If You want to buy land in Russia and somebody actually sold it You are an occupier, indeed. Please, don't do it.They do not understand this kind of joke. When Pres.Obama decided to impose freeze on settlements somebody politely reminded him that he had PhD in law and this is from Harvard: totality of land of W.Bank does not belong to PA. Neither to Israel but individually pieces of it belong to Arabs and Israeli. Mockering rumors had that Pres. Obama called Harvard and was told he got degree in law.I do not believe these rumors. Neither, You who now understand a lot.
GOODWILL from Both sides though we are very very angry is a GOOD thing?Hope to see more positive.........
I wonder how many of these women were arrested on Palestinian territory. if any, then that really does change the picture.
Should we try members of the Warsaw uprising?
all you jew loving people need to read the old testament, eye for eye! There will never be peace till the rightful folks have there land back period. Obama is just another do nothing fake like the ones before him, let Iran even things out, then maybe we will see a change. RIO is in the house.
It's funny how they are accused of being members in a banned organization. Were you expecting them to join the Mossad instead?? This is what happens when you humiliate these people and kill their kids. They will do whatever it takes to revenge in return. Peace will never happen in this part of the world.
Approach the ck points with a knife ,attempted or prevented murder it is. Go straight to Jail.the Jewish State has been in a state of seige since 1948,you dont go to a check point with a weapon.
Israel, eh bro!
You have no clue of what the Middle East is all about. Keep on talking your crap from the most invasive country in the world. Free Cuba! Get out of all the countries you have invaded. Stop stealing from the Third World so that bitches like you will keep on enjoying their way of life. This is the Middle East. Straight to your face.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmlet us see. These loveliest of the lowly....attempted murder, attempted murder, attempted murder, attempted murder, attempted murder, attempted murder, attempted murder, attempted murder, attempted murder, attempted murder, attempted murder, attempted murder, attempted murder, attempted murder, attempted murder, attempted murder. Is this message clear enough for the Israeli's...these people want you dead and you continually make fools of yourselves by giving in to their demands. Yes the world is on their side because the world is also against Israel so siding with the people who will do their biding only makes sense. I have only one last statement...attempted murder.
You need to look at how Israelis who have murdered or attempted to murder Arabs have been sentenced, like the settler who shot 3 Pals. at THEIR house captured on video....and you know the rest.No charge at all. Disgraceful.
who shot 3 pals. at close range, captured on video and no charges for 3 attempted murders. Funny that! "security reasons" LOL
Nice to see Shalit looking well, and nice too for his family, so they can sleep. But....the so called crimes made me, blink, of these females. It is well known Israel has thousands of Palestinians in jail, including women and children, for things as throwing a stone, or yelling at an IDF at checkpoints. Shamefull. At least, Shalit was in the active military.... What would Jews have done during ocupation of Poland? Did not..any of them throw stones, scream, be part of some resistance? Think about it......
I spent some time researching multiple names on this list. At some point I quit because I just became too disgusted at what I found. Over and over the information I found from a whole long list of websites was that the charges were completely overblown, or applied to minors as if they were adults, charges were never filed, or the prisoners were due to be released in a few weeks or months anyways. Overall, it is beginning to look to me like Israel has been conducting kangaroo courts with the SOLE purpose of try to justify taking their own hostages to hold for Shalit's release. Everyone here seems to be concerned about killers being let loose, but what I've researched doesn't match up with that at all. I challenge each person here who is shaking in their boots and spreading fear over these prisoners being released, to go out and each research at least 3-4 of the folks on this list yourself. Then, and only then, come back and explain why you are so afraid of their release.
Comprehend much? Ram was specifically addressing the people (Hiam Ahmed Yusuf Ba'id and Rimat abu Ayisha) that got sentencing for being part of a "banned organization". It didn't slip by him(?), he wasn't talking about that the ones with attempted murder. And Ben is right, they should buldoze all terrorists houses, not just the non-Jewish ones. Stephen, No where in the article does it state what "organizations" they belonged to. I wouldn't assume it is one of the terrorist groups you listed until it is reported.
"Najuah Abed Alghani - Held without bail pending trial for membership in an illegal organization and disturbing the peace" This is disgusting! The charges listed are so vague it's likely they are all made up. And many of the released prisoners are due to be released anyway. What a travesty!
As a Jew and a lover of Israel I take no joy in this. What happened to no negotiating with terrorists? If I lived in Israel I'd take a long look at what's happened to Israel since the 1970's. The arabs only view this as more weakness and perhaps they're right. Time will tell, but if the arabs are right and Israel is irretrievably weak and split then God help the Jews. The ghost of the "mufti" will ride with the murdering terrorists and that's no exaggeration.
1 year for attempted murder of occupiers/terrorists? Israel got a good deal.
Why don't you wise us all up with your wisdom? Which 'occupied lands' are you referring to? Please be precise so we know which land you are talking about. In addition why don?t say where you live? A little context goes a long way.
Why endanger more people by releasing failed terrorists who may try again? I don't get it. Its only a video. This is a form of 'showing off' which is being done in order to boost the egos of those involved. Your concern over Shalit does not make you more human than the Palestinians who are seeking the release of their people held in Israeli prisons. In my mind it makes you less human because you are risking more casualties in order to placate assuage your own egos.
Isn't it odd how Israel sentences people over whom it has no legal jurisdiction, because they resist its assumption of illegal rule over themselves and their people, and then disguises its illegal actions with accusations like 'attempted murder'? Truly odd...and I do not expect this message to be posted. Just like you guys refuse to even post anything that equates your occupation of Palestine with SA Apartheid policies.
Resisting oppression and my world history taught me that Jerusalem is the City of David & the Jewish People and not a city of Mohammed or the Arabs, and hurling missiles into populated non-military targets is not legitimate response to ?oppression? neither is holding hostages for years without release and expecting the other government to look on with any favor.
... wasn't Bobby Kennedy murdered by a palestinian "freedom fighter"? Think he should be let out to show what a "humane society" we are?
Throwing a stone against an Jewish soldier is an attempted murder. When Jewish settlers throw stones on Palestinians that is in Israeli "system" nothing or at the worst a sign of "frustration" punished with one day's home arrest.
11,000 or more at any one time. This includes little kids and most are political prisoners. The abductions of Palestinians are designed to curtail births and to demoralize them. Many more are at facility 1391 type torture centres.
t: "in other country she would have gone for 5 years!!!! " That all depends on the definition of "attempted murder", doesn't it. In the case of Jihad Abu-Turki it means "approaching a checkpoint with a knife in a bag" which in most other countries is "carrying a concealed weapon" but is not, in itself, "attempted murder". Because, of course, in *most* countries you have to actually "attempt the murder" before you are charged with "attempted murder". Not in Israel, apparently..... http://israelitybites.blogspot.com/2009/06/palestinian-kids-in-israeli-jails.html
t: "in other country she would have gone for 5 years!!!! " Perhaps you might care to ponder the question wether any of them would even have been imprisoned in any other country...... I'll note, for example, that Jihad Abu-Turki is 15 years old, which in most countries would make her a minor. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=33979
NOT the death penalty. Unlike the USA there is NO death penalty for civillian offences including murder for either Moslems or Jews. If people are executed out of hand why are there so many Arab prisoners in Israel? I note your "humanitarian" concern does not extend to people executed out of hand by Hamas.
The PLO is no different from the IRA. If they wanted rules of war they have to either sign a declaration of war or wear a uniform.Stick it .
You know like villages that fire on civillian convoys trying to bring food and water to break an Arab blockade. Or Military HQ after giving warning to evacuate. Terrorists attack civillians in the streets unprovoked, shoot captured mothers and their children ,lynch POW's etc. Know who YOU are now?
They're all fighting for a world "free" of Jews.
Bobby Kennedy said that: " a democracy is measured by the quality of its Justice System!" In that case, I guess you could say that the US justie system is doing pretty well; they've locked up Sirhan Sirhan (curse his name) Kennedy's Palestinian murderer for life.
Just remeber israel past Irgun and Gangstern headed by Manhahem Begin and you will know who you are
What ---all the rabid right wing wackos cannot see the similarity. They are resisting oppression and occupation. It is allowed under the laws of war. Or am I to believe that those rules only apply to Jewish Terrorists. How convenient.

Unlike most countries iclusive of Israel which considers said death penalty barbaric." Stephen in Geneve Israel kills at will. Whether it is targeted assaninations or wanton destruction as seen in Lebanaon or Gaza or any number of Bombs dropped from 30,000 feet by the brave IAF heroes who rain death on babies and women and elderly people. try not to make us laugh---it hurts. try a little humble pie and look at the Goldstone report for some true reflection.
First of all the US Justice system has continued with the Death Penalty. Unlike most countries iclusive of Israel which considers said death penalty barbaric.-Stephen Stephen, I am sorry to inform you that Israel has not discontinued the death penalty for Muslims, only Jews. The executions are determined by military tribunal and are targeted executions sanctioned by the state of Israel and affirmed by the Israel's High Court in 2006.
All these people tried to murder others and failed. Once released they'll have many opportunities to try again. I wonder how many they'll succeed in killing this time. And all for a video tape? I understand the desire to have proof he is alive but if they want to make a trade, they should want to give proof. Israelis are the worst negotiators in the history of the world. Who else makes trades like a thousand murderers for one soldier or hundreds of murders for the dead, empty bodies of a few soldiers. It only encourages them to kidnap more people.
Bobby Kennedy, who as history has forgotten, was assassinated on American soil by Sirhan Sirhan,a Jerusalem born Palestinian, disturbed over Kennedy's support for Israel. Sirhan Sirhan is alive and serving a life sentence and no one would dare ask the U.S. to exchange him for American hostages. Always a double standard.
Israel should keep in mind how cheap Palestinian lives are, the next time it conducts an operation like Cast Lead. During the next operation, deterrence requires at least 1000 Palestinians dead for each dead Israeli. If Palestinians had a glimpse of dignity, they would demand a release of one reasoner for Shalit.
Ram asks"OR IS IT JUSTICE ISRAELI STYLE?" Judge for yourself killing children, women and innocent civilians. Instead of building Gaza and caring for the welfare of its citizens, Hamas built tunnels to attack Israel, cruelly using children and innocent Palestinians to hide terrorists and ammunition. Hamas terrorists built rocket launch pads and storages near schools, in mosques and kindergartens. They have booby-trapped urban neighborhoods and used Palestinian children as human-shields in order to hide terrorists and means of warfare well maybe Israel is to easy on them
Those women would regret going home. Can't choose the way to dress, can't choose where to go alone, can't choose her friends, can't choose her husband. From one prison to another one. At least they were fed,in the Israeli prison.
How many will these freed terrorist murder once free? That's exactly it, we do not know!
Maybee when she gets out she can join the leiberman in the Kotch party then they both can visit the shrine of Holy Baruk burried across from Keir Kahane memorial park By the way dosen't Israel buldowze houses of Terrorists not his
Well, are we not brilliant, are we.? The illegal organizations are those such as Al Qaeda,Taliban,Hezbollah,Islamic Jihad, Hamas..or must I continue. These are Terrorist Groups. Surely you can understand. I belong to Greenpeace, Save the Whales,WWF and keep the litter off the Haaretz TB.
I think there must be a mistake somewhere - surely some of these women cannot seriously have been convicted of attempted murder and yet only got a year and a few months in prison. This does not make sense especially as since peaceful protesters have often got the same sentence or longer. Please explain.
She was attempting to murder a soldier who is occupying her lands....its called resistance bro
What Bobby Kennedy said is totally irrelevant vis a vis the US Justice System comparative to Israel. First of all the US Justice system has continued with the Death Penalty. Unlike most countries iclusive of Israel which considers said death penalty barbaric. Then again, many an innocent has died either in the electric chair, gas chamber or by lethal injection. One only has to revisit the many convicted by a court of peers/jury released from the Death Row. Again, attempted murder, with a deadly weapon carries a sentence of not less than 10 years in most countries. Women are no different to men, when it comes to either terrorist activities or murder. Have some Key Lime Pie and reflect.
leaving ,I know you want it ,your heart belongs to them.
Israel should put Palestinian prisoners into a 'no contact, don't know if they are still living' zone so that their families start having the same doubts about their existence as we do with Shalit. It is not right that Pals walk about freely while our guy is buried.
do you see the decrimination of the Israeli Justice a killer of israeli arab or palestinians gets house arrest while these women tried to defend themself from being attacked by the army gets years in jail and still want Shalit to be released let him and his parent suffer as much as those innecent palestinians.
Then Stephen how do you rate the US justice system which can throw in jail someone for months without trial, isolated and without any legal protection whatsoever using the Patriot Act as an excuse?
very good, mr ram, at least you got something right, you have done your homework, ISRAEL IS THE ONLY DEMOCRACY in the region.
How many more have attempted and failed? how many more will in the future?
I would rather face the justice system of Israel than ANY other Middle Eastern nation. People are routinely beheaded in Saudi Arabia, but Israel has only committed capital punishment ONCE in it's history (Adolf Eichmann). Oh, and let's not forget the adulterers who are stoned in Iraq/Iran, and those with limbs lopped off in Saudi Arabia (once again) for theft. Boo hoo, they're sitting in a luxurious jail in Israel for attempted murder, which I'm sure has better accommodations than 90% of the region, and certainly all the region's prisons.
Yes I agree totally that attempted mured woul;d be given a harsher punishment but.. and a big BUT it has to be attempted murder and NOT hitting a soldier with stones. Moreover, the the settler who murdered a palestini in cold blood (some time back) and was recorded on video got NO prison sentence. The high tech israeli police couldn't decide with 100% suretly that the man in the video is the one apprehended and have him the benefit of doubt!
"OR IS IT JUSTICE ISRAELI STYLE? and you claim that Israel is the only democracy in the ME" Yes, that claim would be laughable if so many Palestinians were not imprisoned by Israel, many without benefit of trial...
Settlers committing crimes in the territories are sentenced in separate civilian courts. These people were sentenced in military courts, with comparatively limited possibilities of appeal. One territory, but two separate judicial systems depending on your ethnicity. How is this not apartheid?
The illegal organisation would be Hamas, Al Qaeda, the Islamic Jihad or any of the terrorist fringe groups. Happy now?
The Palestinians and gullible Loony Left of the West are always ranting about 11,000 innocent prisoners INCLUDING WOMEN AND CHILDREN in Israeli dungeons. The above list provides an insight into due process through our judicial system, as well as the ridiculously light sentences these wannabe murderders receive. Barah Malki - Sentenced to eleven months for attempted murder and assault of a police officer in the line of duty. I challenge anyone to name ANY other country in the world that would pass such a light sentence!
This could make the pressure upon Netanyahu to free Gilad Shalit too intense to resist. This could be very good news for Noam Shalit.
"one year and for attempted 8 months for attempted murder? . . . in other country she would have gone for 5 years!!" - tourist Where else in the world is acting annoyed at a checkpoint 'attempted murder'?
and it slipped right by you that most all were charged with attempted murder.
I notice that the statement is made that no prisoners with "blood on their hands" are being released. However, the list includes many who were imprisoned for attempted murder. Does not the fact that they failed in what they attempted to do make it likely that they will try again once they are released? And what guarantee is there that the video is a recent one, not one made shortly after he was kidnapped? I think the Israeli government is being played for fools by Hamas.
OR IS IT JUSTICE ISRAELI STYLE? and you claim that Israel is the only democracy in the ME.
in other country she would have gone for 5 years!!!!
Bobby Kennedy said that: " a democracy is measured by the quality of its Justice System!"
