Now it's official: Omri Casspi, the first Israeli to ever play in the world's premier basketball league, was selected on Wednesday to participate in NBA All-Star weekend's rookie matchup that pits first-year players and against second-year standouts. The game is scheduled to be played in Dallas on February 12.

The Israeli forward, who has surpassed expectations with a strong half-season with the Sacramento Kings, will be joined by Milwaukee Bucks guard Brandon Jennings, and his Sacramento teammate Tyreke Evans, whom many consider to be the league's best rookie.

Through the first 42 games this season, Casspi has registered just over 12 points per game while playing 27 minutes. He has grabbed nearly five rebounds per game while shooting 47 percent from the floor.

Casspi scored 16 points and hit 8 of his 13 shots while hauling a team-high 8 rebounds on Wednesday in a 108-97 loss at the hands of the Atlanta Hawks.
