The organizers of a record-breaking worldwide chorus of Hatikva, Israel's national anthem, tried to smash their own record for the largest number of people singing a national anthem at the same time.

This year's event took place on Wednesday (April 29) at 10:50 P.M. Israel time (12:50 P.M. PST; 3:50 P.M. EST; and 2:50 P.M. CST).

More than 100,000 people sang the song simultaneously on May 7, 2008, to mark Israel's 60th birthday. Following the success of the event, the people behind Live Hatikva envision an annual global sing-a-long, which would beat its own record every year.
