U.S.: UN Holocaust resolution rejects 'any form of Holocaust denial'
UN group to launch program to promote awareness of Holocaust by means of battling Holocaust denial, formulating educational curriculums.
By Barak Ravid and The Associated Press Tags: HolocaustThe United States welcomed on Friday passage by The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) General Conference of a resolution to promote remembrance of the Holocaust.
A statement from State Department spokesman Sean McCormack's office said the resolution clearly demonstrates the refusal of UNESCO's member states to countenance any form of Holocaust denial. That was a reference to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who early this year described as a myth that the Nazis slaughtered millions of Jews and people of other ethnic groups during World War II.
The resolution, sponsored by the United States, Israel, Russia, Australia and Canada, asks UNESCO Director-General Koichiro Matsuura to work out with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon how UNESCO could promote Holocaust awareness and combat all forms of Holocaust denial.
The 193 member states at UNESCO's 34th General Conference, its main decision-makking body, adopted the resolution by consensus.
Over recent months, extensive political efforts have been made to recruit international support for a program to promote awareness of the Holocaust by means of battling every form of Holocaust denial and formulating educational curriculums.
Under the guidelines of the new program, UNESCO will now be able to prepare educational and instructional curriculums on Holocaust remembrance, and promote the incorporation of such studies in core curriculums, conferences and research worldwide. These activities will be carried out in tandem with the Holocaust remembrance programs currently being developed at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
In addition, a permanent exhibit on the Holocaust is set to open at the UN headquarters in New York, to be displayed along the path taken by tourists and visitors on guided tours of the building. The exhibit, a result of extensive efforts made by Israel's Foreign Ministry, aims to balance out the permanent exhibit on Palestinian refugees, also displayed on site.

I recently stunned my parents by telling them I didn't think there had been a Japanese atrocity in my birth place Tarawa Kiribati. My debunking is based on American army interrogation and execution of Japanese officers, physical absence of victims and a story by an eyewitness that didn't seem plausible. Most Japanese believe for good reason it was victors' justice.
The progress of assimilation of Jews into host western countries is being undermined by the interest groups purporting to represent you. There is growing backlash even here in the US. Aren't any of you alarmed that there are people among you making enemies out of the people with whom you cohabitate the most with??? Is the whole world irrationally anti Semitic or is there more to it?Think about that.
I am speechless.I am actually angry. A people(many peoples for that matter) stand accused of horrific crimes yet are not allowed to defend themselves because wealthy Jewish people say they can't.Yet this "THE" Holocaust promotion along with the endless litigation and uses as a political tool continues unabated, unchallenged in ANY public arena. This is actual supremacism at work. Jews DO run the west, here is yet more evidence staring you in the face.I'm afraid for ALL of us that the seeds of backlash are yet once again sown.
Why can't you ask questions? Reject ANY form of denial? Everyone has different opinions on everything. What is denial? 599,999,999? That's denial by this definition. The Auschwitz museum has decreased it's numbers from 4 million to 1.1 or 1.5 that's denial. Can you take a museum to jail or do you just pretend the subtractions don't exist? AND if those people didn't die there, where DID they die?
I never questioned the holocaust in the past. It only occurred to me to do so after respected historians and chemists were thrown into jail for expressing their opinion on the matter. Now that the UN is dictating that we believe something without question, I have no doubt that it must be a lie. 60 million people died in WW2, and we're allowed to discuss any of them, except of course, for the chosen. We're being lied to in a big way here, and I don't like being told what to think.
Regardless of where one stands on the particular evidences isn't it plain that such imposed history will, eventually, cause a backlash?
"Japan in particular, committed many serious atrocities and hasn`t even admitted to them, much less make repairations." Why Japan "in particular"? Have you counted all the atrocities that have ever been committed, attributed each one to a country, and then made statistical tables? Can you back up this acusation with hard facts?
As long as the Holocaust remains in historical memory without the taint of historical revisionism, will Israel be allowed to subject the Palestinians to further humiliation, destruction and death with impunity. "Never again," only applies if you are Jewish. Everyone else is less than Chosen.
I guess the overstated were found alive in Newyork.
hmm, I thought you didn't have to legislate for something that's supposedly true?? Maybe not anymore in this age of fear mongering to line the pockets of those who have too much already. Thought police are just around the corner.
That's OK by me, so long as they teach the kiddies that the Auschwitz gas chamber was built by the Polish communist govt in 1948 for the tourists who are not told that fact first admitted to by the then Auschwitz Museum curator Dr Franciszek Piper in 1992 to videographer David Cole, himself a jew. David Cole recanted and went into hiding after that. It is thought that threats had been made by the usual suspects. Anyone know any different ?
Wow - this is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. With all the prodding the goyim's War and Oil Exchanges do to help Israel down the path to Masada II, don't any of you Jews suspect there is something weird about all this special treatment? Jews still think, don't they? This is the same UN that issued 500 unanswered resolutions against Israel. Do you really think this resolution means any more than those? Is that air you're breathing Israel? Hmmm.... Go proudly to your doom Israel - the glory of Masada is at your door steps. The queue for the boxcars is outside your door. There are no Jews in Israel. Only vain sheep. You are being set up Israel - you are allowed while it suits your your goyim masters - they will tire of you - they always have. This is a sad day for the Jew - it is a sad day for the world. I want my nation out of the UN - so do my neighbors. Farewell Jew. Farewell Israel. Enjoy your artificial privilege while it lasts.
My children will be absent from any school lesson that forbids debate and inquiry
You can sure question myths, thoughts, opinons, theories, etc,. One leaved documented facts as is.
Well, it did not take long for the usual suspects to appear?. One of the tactics used by the Holocaust deniers is to minimize the event. Witness the posting of Madame Durson. She claims that the "holocaust" (small h) is just another atrocity of WWII. Well, Natalie, I don't care when fakes like you criticize Israel and Jews ? life is too short to answer every stupid and vile comment. But Holocaust memory is sacred. So, keep your dirty hands off it.
There are a lot of terrible things that happen in war. The holocaust is one example. Most people understand that the holocaust really happened and that Germany has acknowledged it. Other historical atrocities remain more problematic. Japan in particular, committed many serious atrocities and hasn't even admitted to them, much less make repairations. This doesn't seem to bother anybody, and there are plenty of people in Japan that can deny the atrocities with impugnity. If we turn the enforcement of history texts over to law enforcement agencies, shouldn't we give them full scope to enforce the entire history book and not just one chapter?
telling people how to think. Now you cannot even question the official Holocaust story. A very dangerous precedent, when you have to legislate because people do not want to believe something. What next? The Bush story about Saddam? Nasrallah's story about how Israel is a bad country? Suppression of the undeniable right for Palestinian statehood? This is real Big Brother territory This is bloody dangerous.
because one person said one thing all of us are bad ?you should dip your head in cold water idiot austrians and germans are fed up of these neo nazis and as well of these media hungry tabloid ..germans are doing and that ...get a life
http://eurostan.eu/index.php/977799 This reports the latest outrage in Austria. The constant theme of holocaust denial permeates the consciousness of this nasty little country.
There is yet another scandal in Austria concerning prominent politicians who question the holocaust and or gas chambers in the usual cynical way.Read in :Der Standard / the following article :Braunes in der Blaupause Polizei ermittelt nach Herbert Schallers Auftritt bei einer Feier des FPÖ-Europaabgeordneten Andreas Mölzer / it highlights the FPÖ,Austrias third largest party and a recent party at which delegates applauded the thesis that gas chambers never existed.Austria is still a very nasty little country.
