U.S. consultant offers to help fight settlement freeze for $300k

Yesha Council wants to hire consultant due to his relations with Netanyahu, but the price is too high.

U.S. political consultant Arthur Finkelstein is offering his services to the Yesha Council of settlements for $300,000 a year.

The organization has begun formulating a new strategic plan to fight the suspension of construction in the settlements and to revive its public image.

The Yesha Council would like to hire Finkelstein because of his close relationship with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu but the price named is beyond its means.

Finkelstein is credited with securing Netanyahu's first term as prime minister in the 1996, against Shimon Peres.

Finkelstein's Israeli representative, Tal Harel, declined to comment.

I meant shekel. One to two thousand shekels for a "freeze-buster". http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1145240.html

And they're much, much cheaper. Instantly collapsible and set-up-againable, they cost 1 to 2 thousand dollars apiece and, I believe, are the answer to living in the Middle East. Let's all go back to being nomads. Neutralizes the ethnic cleansing debate entirely, much safer in earthquakes and other natural disasters. (Wunderground announces a flood here? Pick up and go there). Finkelstein go sell a pig in a poke somewhere else. We don't need you here.

Helen, your shaking head is preventing you from seeing this correctly. Yes, Israel get money. Why don't you mention ALL the others who get money, too. Start with the PA, Egypt, Jordan. Oops, forgot them (your head was shaking). Israel gives the US a substantial return for this money, something the others don't. Giving the money to the PA (Arafat etc..) is like lighting a match to it. Poof, it is gone. As to your other point, the reality is the Palestinians have fought "back" long before 1967. It was their actions to constantly destroy Israel that led to them losing the West Bank. Then again, Helen, it was the JORDANIANS who lost the land in '67, where do you get your info that it was the Palestinians. And nobody FORCED themselves on anybody. Had there been no '67 War, this discussion wouldn't be taking place. Oh, forgot, you head is shaking. Come on, REALLY !!!

are beginning to believe their own statements. Personally I hope he gets the money---if someone is dumb enough to give it to him. Of course we all know this is just more propaganda based on lies. No moey willcahnge hands---just friends helping friends. All playing their assigned roles.

Settlers can consult on how to use a gun

Perhaps in return for a lowered fee, the settlers can give Finkelstein some tips on how to shoot and m-16, or most effectively burn a mosque, or even how to persuade young religious women to go and clash with border police. In his whole life, I doubt Finkelstein motivated as much insanity as the settlers have been able to, why would anyone want to hire him? Oh yeah, he's not a consultant, he's soliciting a bribe to try to complete an illegal deal.

Which is more illegal in this looking glass world, the freeze or the settlements? Can some smart lawyer enlighten me, without the astronomical fee?

Forst of allit is inmaterial if the man is close to Netanyahu, since there appears to be no issue with the PM wanting to secure settlements,so he'll require no convincing. What the Yeshiva Councilnees is someone who knows how to persuade the rest of the world to get on board with Israel. As we all know, hasbara for Israel has never gotten off the ground. This is because no one understands that in order to truly bridge the gap, the MoFA must do the unthinkable and hire people with one foot in the other camp--in other words, Americans whomay or may not be Jewish. Until that happens, the Palestinians who already take HUGE advantage of this gold mine of public relations will carry on with royally kicking Israel's image. The Finkelstein idea is a waste of money. Who's he going to convince besides the people already convinced?
