The Muslim Council of Britain thought that it should commemorate other Holocausts such as Darfur, Rwanda, Cambodia, Armenia, Russia, Tibet, Palestine amongst others. Holocaust Memorial day has been adapted for that purpose. In January we will be teaching about the Holocaust in Dharfur. As well as teaching the Shoah of the late 1930's and early 1940's. Personally I think it should be a day when we teach our kids that been different is good, and if we pick on people who are different then this can occur. Thus combining this particular day with anti bullying initiatives as well.
