Top Hamas official says UN chief should quit over pro-Israel partiality

Mahmoud Zahar: UN adopts the occupation's position, and goes far beyond that to justify the occupation's crimes.

By DPA Tags: UN Gaza

A senior Islamic Hamas movement official in Gaza on Monday called on United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to quit his post "because of his full partiality towards Israel."

Mahmoud Zahar, who served as a foreign minister in the former Hamas-led government, accused Ban of violating the rules of the international organization "by his biased attitudes towards Israel."

"We follow up with a great concern the biased steps carried out by the UN in relation to Middle East conflicts," Zahar said in a written statement.

Hamas, which is listed as a terrorist organization by the European Union and the U.S., took control of the Gaza Strip by force when its militants unseated Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah security forces in mid- June.

"The UN biased stance towards Israel contradicts with the basic role of the organization to restore security and settlement and achieve justice in the world," al-Zahar said.

Zahar also referred to Special rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territory John Dugard, who has accused Israel of committing crimes against the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.

"There is an increasing partiality towards the Israeli occupation, and not only this, but also it [the UN] adopts the occupation's position. It also goes far beyond this and justified the occupation's crimes," Zahar said.

Everyone is calling for a neutral stance on conflicts, but neutrality can easily be hijacked with oft-repeated lies. This statement is a perfect example. The objective facts demonstrate a blatant anti-Israel bias at the UN but if enough observers complain of the opposite, regardless of the absurdity of these accusations, the UN will appear neutral. Neutrality is the objectivity of the weak of mind.

That's the whole damn problem of Hamas. When Kofi was the UN chief he sided with them and hardly condemned Hamas cruel action. When Ban's speaks the truth,he is siding with Israel. Hamas is just a bunch of losers . Anyway goodbye to bad rubbish. Hamas , is not just worth mentioning. Let's just focus on the peace deal of Olmert and Abbas. Continue to boycott Hamas and they can just go to his master,Iran and bag for more money.

HAMAS are the worst kind of terrorists, and are an Iranian proxy which couldn't care less for Palestines' welfare. But unlike most posters who gleefully believe Hamas is "OUT", "dead", "nobody", etc., HAMAS is still supported by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, Indonesia, even Russia and China, ina less direct way, give them political red carpets. It's a wishful thinking to believe they are in their nadir. They are having a crisis, and don't know what to do politically with Gaza, only to fire qassams, brainwash children and agitate antisemitism. But they are far from irrelevant, and would get a higher vote than many would expect in a Palestinian voting.

Hamastan launches political terrorism: An actions so outrageous is just aimed at gaining attention and causing an amnesia: Hamas is no longer in the Palestinian government, and has no legitimate right to speak as if it were. When A-Zahar will decry a comment by the Pope, will meddle in the Democratic Party's primaries or defy NATo, what it wants is the same as terrorism: gain world attention. We shouldn't give it to Hamas, by no means.

Oh, this is too funny. The self-appointed head of Hamas' ad-hoc, impeachment committee of one, Mahmoud Zahar, calls for the resignation of the overwhelmingly elected Secretary-General of the UN, Ban Ki-moon, on the charge of bias. Who does this two-bit terrorist from a stateless entity like Hamastan think that he is anyway? The isolation and rejection of Hamas by the entire international community must be causing a lot of desperation in Gaza for attention. Well, Zahar, nobody (except for a few Gazans) is listening to your squawkings. The only reason that I found out about it was because of this article in Haaretz. Have you ever thought about a career as a stand-up comic? You're almost as good as Baghdad Bob. By the way, you have been misinformed; the Gaza Strip is no longer occupied by Israel and Ban Ki-moon chastised Israel for declaring it to be a "hostile entity".

You can call Zahar whatever you wants, but why is this occupation allow to happen for so so long.If Jews are screaming for peace or at least claiming they want peace,is this the excuse you have for holding Palestinians hostage.Maybe Israel should return what they have stolen from Palestinians. It is no secret that Annan was outpoken about Israelis treatment of Palestinians and war crimes, collective punishment and daily humiliations by Israelis against Palestinians. We all know that,America tried very hard to get rid of Annan,to sastified the Israelis. This new UN chief Ban Ki-moon,is pro Israelis planted by of course by the US

    • 02:16

What Mahmoud Zahar doesn't care for is, General Ban-Ki-Moon treats all middle east parties equally. Koffi Annan was as anti sementic as they come. This is exactly why Mahmoud Zahar is mad. Poor Mahmoud wants another anti sementic in charge. Oh well soon it won't make a difference because Hamas will be history shortly. What poor Mahmoud doesn't get is, it's not the UN, its all the western powers that have had their fill of the BS created by Hamas and Hamas sponsors.

The primary mission of the UN is give diplomatic legitimacy to the eradication of Israel and the genocide of the Jewish people, coordinating between muslim antisemites and european antisemites to achieve this. Anyone who is pro-UN is a genocidal monster. Israel humiliates herself by continuing to participate in the crime against humanity that is the UN.

This is the person who said in an interview with CNN that Israel must be destroyed. He thinks the world will believe the Islamist-Jihadist occupation crap. The fact is, Zahar, long before the Islamist-Jihadists sprouted in the Arabian Desert in the 7th century, Israel was already in existence. GOD gave the Land of Israel to the Jews since the time of their forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob 4000 years ago. What makes you think that Islamist-Jihadists have a right to ravage and occupy other countries including Israel and Jews have no right to liberate their Biblical and Historic homeland of Israel? It is time the world rejects the lies, deceptions and manipulations of the Islamist-Jihadists who are trying to usurp Israel from the Jews.

""The UN biased stance towards Israel contradicts with the basic role of the organization to restore security and settlement and achieve justice in the world," al-Zahar said." Hmmm. He didn't have a problem when the UN has been so biased against Israel for years in light of Palestinian atrocities and war crimes. It seems they haven't been able to put Moon on the payroll yet for his support. For sure, the Arabs weren't upset when the UN provided Pals with their very own refugee status (only 2 years residence compared with 20 years for others) and their own agency. This does come at the price of refugees worldwide that can't be helped by the UN's thin resources. But as the PA imam said this past week "Islam is the only right thing in the world, and is the most innovative, just religion that must rule the world soon". So, Zahar is not too far off base.

Mahmoud Zahar - a virulent anti-semite in the tradition of Julius Streicher (for those who don't know about him there's Wikipedia) - should be the last person on earth to comment about partiality. His hatred towards JEWS - not Israelis - is well documented. He's nothing more than a errand boy whose last major accomplishment was carrying suitcases of cash into Gaza to circumvent the monetary restrictions placed (with good reason) on Hamas. Who else uses suitcases of cash? Hmmm let's see...criminials, gangsters, mafiosi, drug cartels....Hamas is just another criminal organization.

That is a new one. Didn't Ban K Moon warn Israel not to turn off the electricity to Gaza in the face of rocket fire of Israel citizens. My first impulse is to have the IAF target this hamas creep. Now that I have heard him accuse the UN of bias towards Israel, I wish Zahar the best. That the UN is in favor of Israel is a line Ahmadinijad (pardon my spelling) would use. Like so much of what passes for Arab leadership, Zahar joins a long list of cartoons.
