Three Islamic Jihad members killed in two incidents in Gaza

Armed militant killed while planting bomb on Gaza border; two more die in IAF strike on car near Khan Yunis.

By Haaretz Service and Agencies

Israel Defense Forces troops killed three Islamic Jihad militants Thursday, in two incidents in the Gaza Strip.

IDF soldiers shot dead an armed militant near the border with Israel, said ambulance workers who retrieved his body.

An IDF spokesman said troops shot the man as he approached the border fence south of the Kissufim crossing point and tried to plant explosives.

Islamic Jihad, in a text message sent to reporters, confirmed the man was a member of the militant group and said he was shot while approaching the border with Israel.

The group identified the man as 21-year-old Yussef Kabalan.

Earlier Thursday, an Israel Air Force strike on a car in southern Gaza killed two militants, witnesses and security sources said.

An IDF spokesman confirmed that the IAF struck the vehicle on the road between the towns of Khan Yunis and Rafah, saying the occupants were "terrorists who were planning to carry out attacks."

Medical sources said the dead were members of Islamic Jihad.

On Wednesday, two other members of the Islamic Jihad were wounded when the IAF struck a car in Gaza. Another missile hit a car carrying gunmen from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, the armed wing of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement.

The IAF frequently target suspected Gaza militants in air strikes, part of a campaign against militants firing rockets from northern Gaza at Israel.

Israel has stepped up its offensive against Palestinian militants in Gaza lately to try to prevent the rocket attacks and pressure armed groups to free the IDF soldier abducted in June.

Who launched 60 rockets into Israeli towns (civilian population) in an unprovoked attack? Who then conducted a cross-border raid, kiled 3 Israel soldies and kidnapped 2 others? Who launched 4000 katysha rockets on Israeli civilian targets for the next 34 days in the hope of killing as many Israelis as possible? Who instructed Arabs to leave Haifa so that they could kill as many Jews only as possible? Who launched rockets from civilian homes? Who provided shelters and bunkers for themselves and left the population exposed to defend for themselves? Who launched rockets and then scuttled away to hide behind women and children? Who is officially considered a terrorist organization by the international community? Which country allowed a foreign militia to create a private arms arsenal to attack a neighboring country? Cat eat your brain cells?

"murdering people from the air saves all that bother and expense of collecting evidence, arguing their case in a court...inconvenient stuff like that." Word of a citizen of a country which is daily "murdering" people in Afghanistan and Irak. No mentioning the past, bombing cities in Serbia, killing Argentina soldiers in the Malouines... Note that any of these people your country killed did not threaten directly the lives of British citizens, as opposite to cases related in this article. You should perhaps look yourself in your daily mirror sometimes...

Dutch Prefers Her Jews Dead or At Least Defenseless

    • 14:59

As one of the consistently anti-Jewish posters, Dutch once again shows her true stripes as a Jew-hater extraordinaire who only likes Jews when they are either dead or defenseless making them easier to kill. He sympathy lies with the terrorists and make no mistake given the chance she would gladly paticipate actively in their activities. Haaretz should not allow such individuals to post on this site. It lowers the level of discussion to its lowest possible denominator and I for one could live without the likes of Dutch's posts to read.

over the last couple of days of reading it has amazed me that eveything gone wrong is the fault of israel. israel is to blame for all the worlds ills. just think a jewish population of apprx 15 million people world wide has such a negative impact on the world. it seems to me that small percentage of the muslim extremist have very little to do with the problems opf the world. i do not believe in histoy other than the mid 1930 thru 1940 has one group of people been blamed for the world problems. All we want is to live in peace and make it a better world for all. however there seems to be a small group that is hell bend on destroying israel.

Actually it is you who sounds terribly disillusioned, wondering howcome so much death and destruction hasn't brought you any results at all. What kind of a state do you think you will have, if you ever get it, that is built on so much death and destruction. The results of this culture, which you obviously support, are destroying your people from within. But then you are living in the comfort of Canada and don't really care for the people as much as for your impossible ideals, so you urge those caught in the misery to remain their, carrying the flag and the burden of YOUR aspirations.

No trial, no proof and no due process for the Israelis living in towns around Gaza who are hit on a daily basis by kassam rockets (when they actually hit their mark, which they sometimes do). Terrorists in action, who endanger the lives of innocent civilians ON BOTH sides, do not deserve more consideration than their victims.

Actually murdering terrorists from the air saves Israeli lives - both civilians and soldiers. Killing the terrorists is not worth the life of a single soldier. The image of brave Palestinians playing football with a dead IDF soldier's head has changed all that. Each time the Palestinans make the situation worse for themselves, you whine about worsened conditions. Logical, right?

What if it were happening in the United States? If you and I were having coffee I'd rather have the bomber die alone than go with him. As for your comment to #3: "Your thinking is way out of line with our just and civil societies. It`s barbaric. Dutch" It's your thinking that is way out of line. It is much more barbaric to let them commit murder. A just and civil society protects its citizens.

A group that calls for a nation's destruction and proudly targets civilians is the simple definition of terrorists. That Haaretz continues to excuse them because they kill Jews is a sad coninuance of new-Left policies. It's why the UN has no definition of terror, becase Lefties side with Arabs and want to pass a definition that excuses attacks on Israel. Sad.

Indeed, it is disgusting that every single day the Palestinian Arab terror groups continue to launch rockets aimed at Israli civilian population in the small towns and villages of southeren Israel, instead of using their funds, energy and effort to feed themselves, to begin creating a functioning autonomy. All that Israel does is trying to defend itself of these people whose intent is to cause terror, death and injuries among the children of our country. How would your country react if rockets were launched at it DAILY? I look forward to read your honest response.
