Tehran invites West to build nuclear power plants in Iran
Iranian Vice President Aghazadeh says invitation 'is a good yardstick to test Westerners' good will.'
By The Associated PressTehran on Friday invited Western nations to participate in the construction of nuclear power plants across Iran, in the latest round of the country reiterating its tough stance on a disputed nuclear issue.
"The invitation would test the West's good will and restore Iran's trust in the West, shaken after the years of the country's suspension of nuclear activities," Vice President Gholam Reza Aghazadeh said.
It comes after Iran announced on Monday an international bid for the building of two more nuclear power plants, despite international pressures to curb its controversial program.
Tehran says the plants would be light-water reactors, each with the capacity to generate up to 1,600 megawatts of electricity and would cost up to $1.7 billion and take up to 11 years to construct. It was not immediately known if there were responses to the bid.
"The international tender for construction of the two nuclear power plants ... is a good yardstick to test the Westerners' good will," Aghazadeh told the official IRNA news agency but did not mention any specific country.
Aghazadeh said that Iran will never again stop uranium enrichment and vowed that Tehran will continue to work around the clock to install more centrifuges at its underground enrichment plant in Natanz, until all 50,000 planned centrifuges are in place, IRNA reported.
Aghazadeh claimed that Iran showed good will when it suspended uranium enrichment in 2003 for three years, but later lost trust in Western nations after learning they were seeking a permanent halt to Iran's nuclear activities rather than guarantees the program would not be diverted to weapons making. "Therefore, we won't repeat this experience," he said of the possibility of another suspension.
The International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN nuclear watchdog, said Wednesday that Iran has started to deliver small amounts of uranium gas to 1,312 centrifuges - the machines used to enrich uranium - at Natanz. Last week, Iran said it had begun operating 3,000 centrifuges at the plant - nearly 10 times the previously known number.
Aghazadeh insisted Iran has upgraded uranium enrichment to an industrial scale but prefers not to get into a dispute over the number of centrifuges. The UN nuclear agency monitors who inspect Natanz would see this for themselves, he said.
"Each month, IAEA inspectors will see considerable changes in relation to installation of centrifuges in Natanz," said Aghazadeh, adding that "the infrastructure in Natanz will not only house several thousand centrifuges but is geared to set up an entire nuclear fuel production factory ... involving 50,000 underground centrifuges."

Just what the world needs. Another nuclear (supposedly)power plant. Yea right. What's next an invitation for a chemical plant?
Much easier than Pablo B seems to think. First destroy every bit of Iranian military, primarily from air with massive bombing & missile attacks. Take out *every* sub, aircraft, missile, etc. Second, assure them (& act on the assurance if need be) that any attempt to retaliate will result in destruction of non-military infrastructure too. In this case, ratchet upward: For every act of attempted retaliation, a factory or power station or the like is lost. See how quickly they will beg for peace. (We never invaded Japan, after all.) Third, don't whinge about Huzzy or Syria -- include them in the fun, in essentially the same way, if they enter fray. Odds are they make real nice once they see their sponsor Iran annihilated. Fourth, don't leave troops in Iraq -- they should not be trying to keep Muslim fanatics from killing each other. Bring them home or use them to mop-up reactor sites, briefly, after annihilating Iran's conventional military infrastructure.
Deceiver of the world. Just what we were thinking, as a matter of fact, lets help them make the bomb too! Give me a brake. Next they'll be wanting food like NK. Then start it all over again. How rational is this think-tank? Lovely Story, Just Lovely!
The loser Americans and the zionists can't do a damn thing!
John, I'm not a follower of Islam. Your plan to launch a nuclear first strike against an NPT signator shows you have no concept of what the NPT means, or why it exists. Launching a first strike against an NPT signator would be a bald-face violation of the NPT. It would shake the very foundation out from under the NPT. The whole idea of the NPT is that it is a bargin between nuke nations and non-nuke nations for mutual benefit. Nuke nations agree to never launch a first strike against non-nuke nations. In exchange non-nuke nations would have no need to build nuke weapons because they are safe from attack. If the US completely violates the core guarantee of the NPT against ANY single NPT signator, the US will effectively rip up the NPT. Instantly 182 nations will know the NPT will NOT protect them. If they want protection from nukes, their only option is to build nukes. The End Game of your attack is 182 new nuke powers. How is this good for Israel?
for 444 days again?we should have busted their ass the first time they pulled their crap, then, maybe we wouldn't have to put up whith the whole islamic bullshit today.don't negotiate, don't comprimise,if they kill one, kill 100,000 of their's.that's the only language they know!
place severel low yield nukes where your special weapons are utilized. If they put them next to civilians, so be it. Then watch how their hearts and minds will follow when you have them by their balls.
you are the one to re-evaluate your opiion about oppression. Sadam kept Iraq CONTROLLED through OPPRESSION which did not cause him any problems!
I will print a passage from your Coran which is a message from Moahmmad and about tempting your fate. Stay posted.
while all along Olmert say he favors an economic and diplomatic approach thru UN sanctions against Iran nukes . Could it be that this US puppet "model" manipulated Olmert Gov't is quieter now that Israel's Arrow system works , anti ballistic missiles system against Iran missiles , possibly with a nuke warhead , Meanin' to let Iran get its nukes quietly and discreetly and see how Iran as a State behave with nuke power , In order to prevent Int'l crisis , oil crisis ect...entailed thru a preemptive strike against Iran nukes , But given the fanatic nature of such Iranian regime with politico-religious power expansion aspiration ,
dear Iranian govt officials, Can I please have the ingredients and locations of where I can purchase the stuff u r smokin. U guys r smoking the good shit!!!!!
Problems with your attack plan: 1) Smart weapons require GPS coordinates. Visible fixed targets can be GPS'ed with recon photos. Mobile and camo'ed targets require forces on the ground to paint them with lasers. 2) Russia just delivered jam-resistant mobile AA missile systems with an estimated 60-95% kill rate against the best US planes and cruise missiles. Israel doesn't have the US's best planes. Some planes will go down, some pilots will eject. How do you handle pilots and special forces being captured and shown on video like the UK sailors? How many waves of attacks will be required to get past the AA and to find all the mobile targets? This all requires soldiers. And more will be needed in Iraq as the Iraq front explodes. The US is already extending soldier's tours to be 25% longer because they don't have enough. Do you believe the US Congress would approve a draft? No. So we are already 25% short on soldiers, and you want to start a war that require more
Iran is a third rate country with extremely weak economy and no military might whatsoever. They exist only for propaganda. Iran has very limited capabilities to respond. They can not produce any nuclear weapon now - and will not be able after their economy annihilated. Iraq is an example of what going happen to our enemies - destruction. Without democracy -ha-ha...
The folks that advocate nuking Iran (or any country for that matter) are totally delusional. They have no understanding of the laws of consequences and unintended consequences. They are just incapable of understanding that their actions will NOT play out like they delusionally imagine. They think that force will immediately cause everyone else to totally submissive, which is of course the exact opposite of what happens in the real world. The reality is Iran will react very, very violently to any attack (sort of like the US did to 9/11). Since the Nukems vastly underestimate their opponents capabilities they are incapable of understanding just how violent and effective that retaliation will be and how damaging to the US and Israel the retaliation would be. I particularly like his dismissal of $100/bbl oil as manageable. It shows his total lack of understanding of economics. It is idiots like him that cause the rest of us to suffer a lot.
learn english before you start stating random opinions
We're not going after Iran because it will be suicide to do so. If we were, it would've been when the Brit's were being held hostage. Ground invasion is impossible because Iran is more then three times bigger then Iraq and look at how well we are doing over there and our troops are stretched thin as it is. Air campaign won't work Look at what happened between israel and Lebanon. israel relied too heavily on their air strikes and managed to destroy a bunch of houses and kill civilians Hezbollah is now stronger after the war.
nyc17 said in response to his complete failure to address the end game by saying "But again, it is only the beginning..." That is right. All you have a plan for is the beginning of a war. You have no exit plan. You still haven't addressed my challenge for you War Hawks to present an Exit Plan. Nothing you have said resembles an exit plan, or any understanding at all of what would happen past the initial assault. You have failed completely to present a credible exit plan. But the WORST PART is that you started a war that would drive Iran directly into nuclear weapon production. You did this without even addressing the issue of stopping them from building nukes! Let me ask one more time, what is the exit plan? Please try to respond with an actual exit plan.
Who launches these attacks? If Iraq's President Maliki allows Israeli planes to fly over Iraq to launch their attack, there is no place he can hide from assasination. Revolution against the Zionist Collaborator Gov't is certain. Maliki's Gov't would fall signaling complete failure for the US plan to establish democracy in Iraq. This would be a serious blow to US military deterence, much like Lebanon for Israel. If Bush launched the attacks it would be against the will of the US Congress and US people. Impeachment? With Iran tied up in guerilla wars, Saudi Arabia would rise as the only Arab power player. With all of their arab enemies weakened and record oil funds, they would be impossible to control. Saudi's will replace Iran as the biggest threat to Israel, and it all begins again. The Saudi's have a much larger local terrorist population than Iran has ever had. Both Israel and the US will be targetted. Zero net gain for Israel or US, just a change in casting.
It was only beginning. 1) "Oil prices well over $100" - we'll survive. 2)" A blow-up in terrorism against Israel from Iran`s ally Hamas.3) Same coming from Hezb and Syria" - not a big deal at all. at the moment they disable tankers - Saudi too, I guess, they'll invite others to participate. 6) "You haven`t touched Iranian special forces which will now redouble their efforts in Iraq" by killing Sunnis. But again, it is only the beginning... of the Iran's end...
Assuming my first post is allowed by Haaretz, you now know how your conventional first strike on Iran has triggered guerilla warfare across a large part of the mideast. What is your plan now to stop the guerilla warfare without launching a ground invasion? Your plan hasn't touched Iran's nearly half million man army. Russia and China will be happy to provide arms to Iran now. Since your strike didn't include a UN resolution that approved the attack, the UN will not be cooperative at all. Russia and China will veto anything put in front of the UNSC, so it would be left to the Coalition of the Willing. That would be Palu and the Marshall Islands, since joining a war on Iran would mean the political death of most world leaders. Now how are you going to stop Iran from exiting the NPT? You have destroyed much of Iran, please explain why they wouldn't build nukes deep underground with the help of their Ally North Korea who just recently built some of their own?
nyc17 bombs out every airfield, navy, rocket, and refinery in Iran, and thinks the war is over. What your War Hawk plan hasn't even considered: 1) Oil prices well over $100 a brl. due to the shutdown in production in Iran itself. 2) A blow-up in terrorism against Israel from Iran's ally Hamas. 3) Same coming from Hezb and Syria. 4) You haven't taken out Iran's submarines which will now be used to disable oil tankers. Disabled tankers will launch the price of oil even higher. 5) You haven't taken out portable silkworm land-to-sea weapons which will also be used against the oil tankers. 6) You haven't touched Iranian special forces which will now redouble their efforts in Iraq. This will GREATLY increase the US's problems in Iraq, where we are barely holding our own as it is. Worst of all, your plan doesn't even touch Iran's underground enrichment programs. So your plan FAILS to even accomplish the goal of stopping Iran from making nukes! You've stirred up a huge mess for nothing!
I don't get the Iranians. I just don't get them at all. How can they allow these maniacs to govern them?
...for peaceful medical research of course, as well as to help restore Iran's justly shaken confidence in the non-believing nations at large. Then machine guns and hand-grenades should be dropped en masse from Western cargo transports, to assist Iran in developing an Islamically approved ecological balance through carefully devised hunts of superfluous Iranian livestock. Iran, helping the international community think green!
1. Bomb out all airfields and bring Iran's airpower and civilian aviation to 0. Bomb out all navy and civilian fleet to 0. Have a lunch. Wait till next morning. Bomb out all rocket sites. Have a dinner. Bomb all refineries. Call me in 3 months. Wait 3 months to see what evelopes.
what kind of propaganda is ran playing this time?
This is the best and only way for the USA to keep an eye on Tehran. If they think they are up to no good. Many Iranians would flock to the US embassy for visas to go to school in the US and that might wake up the Iranian government. Wake up America.
I pose a challenge to all the War Hawks who inevitably respond to any story about Iran by calling for bombing attacks. If you want to have any credibility at all, please post your Exit Plan along with your calls to "kill, kill, kill" "now now" Please explain how an initial bombing run can be kept from escallating into a full-scale ground war triggered by Iranian retaliation, and counter-retaliations. (similar to what happened with Lebanon in 2006). Please explain how bombing above-ground power plants can stop enrichment being conducted deep below ground. Especially when Iran doesn't need a reactor to build bombs. Please explain how Iran will be kept from withdrawing from the NPT and kicking out the IAEA after an attack. Please explain how anything but a full scale ground war followed by the eternal occupation of Iran can stop them from building nuke weapons in secret locations just like their ally North Korea did. Are any of you War Hawks up to the challenge?
This has to be the most accurate factual account of the Iranian nuke issue that I have ever seen out of the AP. Especially the part that says: "Iran showed good will when it suspended uranium enrichment in 2003 for three years, but later lost trust in Western nations after learning they were seeking a permanent halt to Iran's nuclear activities rather than guarantees the program would not be diverted to weapons making." This is the first time I've seen the AP correctly document the double-cross that Iran suffered. Iran was told to suspend enrichment and to allow much greater inspections. In return, the world was supposed to allow Iran to resume enrichment and power generation under expanded IAEA supervision that would keep Iran from enriching uranium past fuel grade. But the US refused to enter negotiations on how much IAEA inspections would be enough, and instead demanded that Iran must give up their rights under the NPT. This effectively was a US violation of the NPT.
Let us accept this invitation. Let us deliver the nuclear power itself, in the form of exploding bombs delivered from above.
thats very Good actually what the world need is this,if they wanna sucha participationship US and UK will be the first countries to take part in sucha situation also Japan and Russia may do the rest we are happy to hear that
