Teen recants allegation Tel Aviv man held her hostage and raped her
Girl had told police she escaped from the man's apartment after he held her for three days.
A 17-year-old girl recanted on Monday an allegation that a 32-year-old Tel Aviv man held her hostage for three days and raped her.
Police suspect she was romantically involved with the man and made the allegation after a dispute between the two.
The girl, from Netivot, told police on Sunday night that she arrived at the man's apartment in north Tel Aviv after meeting him over the Internet, and that he tried to force her to have sex with him.
She claimed that after she refused, he trapped her over a period of three days until Sunday night, when she managed to escape while he was showering. She added that the man noticed her fleeing and even began chasing after her while threatening to harm her.
The man was brought Monday to the Tel Aviv District Court, where he had his remand extended by two days.
The teenager broke down later during questioning, telling police that she had fabricated the entire story because of a dispute with the arrested man. Police released the man and opened a criminal investigation into the girl instead.
Also Monday, police arrested a 32-year-old man suspected of raping a 17-year-old woman at a party for soldiers being recruited to the Israel Defense Forces a few days earlier in Hod Hasharon.
The woman told investigators the man raped her in one of the rooms at the house in which the party was held.
