Tal Russo promoted to major general, made IDF's chief of operations
Former Nahal Brigade commander to take place of Gadi Eizenkot, who was recently made GOC Northern Command.
By Amos Harel and Haaretz CorrespondentIsrael Defense Forces Brigadier General Tal Russo was promoted to major general on Wednesday and appointed head of the General Staff's Operations Directorate.
Defense Minister Amir Peretz approved the appointment, which was recommended by IDF Chief of Staff Dan Halutz.
Russo will take the place of Major General Gadi Eizenkot, who was recently made GOC Northern Command.
Russo served in a number of positions in the Sayeret Matkal and Shaldag commando units. He was also commander of the Nahal Brigade and of 162nd Division.
During the recently-concluded war in Lebanon, Russo served at the General Staff's advisor on special forces operations.

And he's probably the best looking general in the IDF. But how has he managed to escape the criticism of every general involved in the Lebanon war? I read nothing but good about this man and am growing suspicious as Israel tends to "eat it's young". What's the scoop about Major General Tal Russo?
Unless I have this all wrong, the generals most responsible for the recent fiasco have either kept their jobs, or have been promoted - something is very wrong with the IDF.
