Syria says it thwarted attempt to smuggle arms to Lebanon

Syrian news agency report says customs seized Iraqi truck carrying guns, bullets heading to Tripoli.

By The Associated Press

Syrian customs officers have thwarted an attempt to smuggle arms to Lebanon in an Iraqi truck, Syria's official news agency, SANA, reported Sunday.

The truck, carrying 95 9mm guns, a 9mm machine gun, a Russian rifle, 190 bullets and 290 clips, was seized as it was traveling through the Arida border crossing heading to the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli last week, SANA quoted a Syrian customs official as saying.

The news agency said the arms, concealed under the truck, were to be delivered to a restaurant owner in Tripoli.

The smugglers, whose identities were not disclosed, have been arrested and handed over to Syrian authorities for investigation, SANA said. Lebanese officials were not immediately available for comment.

Only a fool would believe the Syrian Regime. While Nasrallah was openly stating yesterday to an Arab magazine, that the Syrians are the conduit of arms from Iran, the Syrians were stating that they aborted arms smuggling to Lebanon. What a joke.

190 (!!) bullets, "a" Russian rifle, "a" machine gun... Arms smuggling?? are you kidding? Unless, of course, there are thousands of trucks like that one crossing every day which the official Syrian news agency does not report.

Wow! These are exactly the same kind of tricks that Syria plays to show willingness and readiness to discuss peace with Israel! And you know what? Unfortunately, these tricks work with some -nowadays- Israeli leaders! So what are we supposed (WE = normal people) to do with such statements? Laugh or cry knowing what is the Syrian regime, what it has been doing during the last 25 years on the "international terrorism arena" and who is harboring and what is its MAIN and ONLY concern. As long as people have not understood/realized that these regimes understand only ONE language (i.e., iron fist) then they will keep hitting us with such crap and the weak brainS will always believe them... while the solution is one and unique: JUST REMOVE THEM! God bless President Georges W. Bush! His only mistake was to not have continued his mission by eliminating the Iranian and Syrian regimes.

The Syrians must think this is April Fools day. Only an idiot living under primitive Muslim rule where every phony and made up "fact" is spoon fed directly to your brain can this story be believed.
