Rishon reaches Super League Final Four
Home team Rishon got off to a slow start against Ashkelon but exploded in the second half to win 77-63.
Hapoel Rishon Letzion completed the first-ever comeback from being down 2-0 in a Super League playoff series to eliminate Ashkelon and move on to the Super League Final Four.
Home team Rishon got off to a slow start against Ashkelon but exploded in the second half to win 77-63. Trailing 33-30 at halftime, Rishon regrouped behind Brandon Bauman, who finished with 17 points, and Amit Ben David, who added 16 points.
Bauman hit a sizzling four-for-seven from behind the three-point line and registered a double-double by pulling down 11 rebounds.
Ben David's performance showed that without the assistance of one quality Israeli it is hard for the foreigners to carry a team in the league through the playoffs. Marco Killingsworth had 23 for Ashkelon, but Raviv Limonad struggled and finished the night with 10 points.
Rishon joins Maccabi Tel Aviv, Gilboa/Galil and Hapoel Holon in the semifinals.
