Maccabi Tel Aviv averted a second-half meltdown to defeat visiting Alba Berlin 78-62 and claim first place in Group B of basketball's Euroleague. Maccabi now goes to the Top 16. Unicaja Malaga, which finished with the same record as Maccabi at 8-2, qualified from second place after handily disposing of Chalon-Sur-Saone 86-62.

Playing without the suspended Guy Pnini and Devin Smith, who was ill, Maccabi looked little perturbed for the game's first 20 minutes against its overmatched German opponent.
