Shavei Shomron man charged with selling weapons to Palestinians
50-year-old man allegedly stole weapons from IDF soldiers stationed in settlement, sold them to Palestinians to pay off debts.
By Haaretz Service Tags: West Bank PalestiniansA 50-year-old resident of the West Bank settlement of Shavei Shomron was charged Sunday in Tel Aviv District Court with weapons trafficking and theft for selling arms to Palestinians, Army Radio reported.
The man allegedly sold Palestinians four Israel Defense Forces-issue M-16 assault rifles, as well as a combat vest and ammunition clips.
The defendant is accused of stealing most of the arms from IDF soldiers stationed at the settlement. The prosecution said the man, who has a large amount of debt, received NIS 70,000 for the guns.
The court agreed to extend the defendant's remand by two weeks.
