Shas journal: Obama is 'a stone-throwing Palestinian'
Rightist 'Day to day' journal calls Obama an 'extreme Islamist' warns his 'mistake will harm the U.S.'
By Yair Ettinger and Haaretz Correspondent Tags: Shas Eli Yishai Barack Obama Israel newsThe official Shas journal "Day to Day" published Thursday an editorial depicting United States President Barack Obama as "a Palestinian stone throwing youth in East Jerusalem, and not a strategic leader."
The journal editorial was published in response to Obama's interview on Fox News Thursday morning, during which he criticized Minister of Interior affairs and Shas chairman Eli Yishai for the administrative decision to build 1,600 new housing units in East Jerusalem's Ramat Shlomo neighborhood.
The article went on to refer to Obama's criticism of Israel's decision to continue the settlement building, which stirred fervent international responses, as "a creative solution coming from an Islamic extremist."
"He [Obama] does not understand his mistake, but at the end of the day, it will harm him and the U.S.," Yitzhak Kakon, the journal's editor, wrote.
"While Obama is a Muslim," the editorial continued, "he does not know the Arabs who live amongst us. Today it is here, but tomorrow it will be in the U.S. and Europe."
Kakon also wrote that "he should ask Ahmadinejad," about the Arabs, and praised Yishai for standing up for his opinion, and continuing the building in Jerusalem.

Whether or not there is an Israel is not critical to the US's survival. If Israel gets to be too much of a liability, why not get rid of it? Israel is not concerned with our interests; why should we be concerned with its?
Maybe none of the country does, until it cleans up the mess it's made by displacing the indigenous population.
Keep insulting our President and Vice-President and Israel will find that the President for the first time has the power to cut off aid to Israel despite the best efforts of the pro-Israeli lobby.
These Extremists - who support the perpetuation of the only real threat, not only to Palestinians and the region, but Israelis as well - sound as shrill and ridiculous as the Faux News-created "Tea Partiers" in the US that supported Palin the queen of the useful idiots and Dubya, and repeat anything they've been told to, inadvertently doing the work of the people truly responsible for the conditions responsible for their anger. Do they think that making such hysterical and ludicrous statements and LYING publicly, which only highlights their inability to defend their deluded position using facts, will win them support?
and take the bonanza haredi housing give-away (financed by the 3 billion dollars a year sent her by the americans) with it.
"Meharsaich umakhrivaich mimech yazau" (your demolishers and destroyers come from you) It concerns actualy Yeshyahu (Yeush) and all the Rabbi led Shas, Lieberman and the ex russians followers, as well all the various extreme religious sects. Up to now not even one constructive action came from their side beyound prayers. As far as destructive actions we have a great pile of documented peace seeking actions such as Rabi Levingers actions, Hebrons orthodocs good neighbourhood actions, torpedoing all efforts toward peace etc. so for destructive power, we know wher to look for it. POOR ISRAEL
WELL DONE Kakon. Thank you for having the courage to stand up to that Islamist stooge in the White House, plotting with his Arab brothers to destroy Israel. At last someone to counter the loonie left and awaken America to the threat of impending Dhimmitude and Sharia law.
If a Jew is ready to be President, why not a Muslim? Why double standard? I am happy if Obama is a stone thrower. He is the President of the United States and he can throw more than just stones, don't you forget.
Muslim Obama was the only American President who did not go to church last Christmas...is he Christian?
i wonder why everybody is bad eccept you ...fish
Its funny how Israel reacts to the slightest insult with rage, while its government parties print such hateful messages without any shame. Rhodesia on the med.
These jokers in Shas are a blight on the house of Israel. Picking a fight with the US President by calling him names? Did they put 6th graders in charge over there, or just folks who never passed the 6th grade? These bone-heads are dragging Israel down the sewers, and nobody in Israel has the cajoles to do a darn thing to stop them.
Those bankrupt medieval buffoons, you find them everywhere, Iran, Lebanon, Gaza, and, sadly, in Israel as well.
...from making statements that all but the "base" consider to be not only factually incorrect but way out there in "la-la" land: It effectively destroys the credibility of those making the statements, so when they do have a valid point to make, few are likely to take them seriously. (Not that they probably care, but those who have to march hand in hand with them in the government arguably should.)
It is one thing to quote from a story from the Shas journal but surely Ha'aretz should alert readers when those quotes contain clear factual errors. President Obama is not a Muslim. He is a Christian. Someone reading this article is entitled to know this clear error in order to determine what weight (if any) to give to the rest of the Shas article's comments. Intelligent reporting please, not copy-and-pasting.
If any of the US MSM decided to run with this story, Israel's previous diplomatic blunder would be like a walk in the park. The US public has awakened to the problems that Israel causes in the past week, so an insane story like this one that attacks its leader on such a personal level would cause huge damage. That these fanatics can be responsible for a ministry beggars the imagination.
the worst disasters in Israeli history as politicians. Mofaz ,he was in Olmert Goverment during the Lebanon war and what his military expertise contributed with ?
It wasn't Israel's decision to continue the settlement building, it was the timing of the announcement, it was dumb at best and put the U.S. in a difficult position. So don't start burning bridges and stomping your feet because your greatest ally disagrees with your conduct. We have other interest to protect, the world dosen't revolve around Israel. "He [Obama] does not understand his mistake, but at the end of the day, it will harm him and the U.S." Just for thr record, percentage the U.S. needs Israel "ZERO" Percentage Israel needs the U.S. "100" Any questions?
Anytime you put together government full with rightists and bigots and ignorant, and depends on religion people to run it that will be hell and don't make them any different from all Moslem's leaders like Ahmadenajad, I wonder when they the people of Israel going to wake up and realize that those people are not good for Israel
Shas. Reshuffle government.Chuck out 2/3.Keep it concise,Every minister, responsible for his office. Cut their pay by 35%. Separate religion from State. Instead of Shas' party bring in Kadima. Zipi Livni,FM Liberman,Interior Minister. Mofaz,to head Security. etc. Keep the government as small as possible,Something between 9-12 Not bigger. If you Netanyahu cannot carry out this deep reform. Send in your resignation. New elections within 30 days.No longer. No one can be elected without having served in the army, for the full term; One has to live in Israel for at least 9 years, with positive record in helping Israel. If all or most of the above is not carried, then we'll get the same lazy, foolish management as we are witnessing today. Perhaps this shock treatment, will in the long run be beneficial. We'll wait & see.
Obama wasn't elected for the benefit of the Israelis...he is the leader for the Americans. America's interest isn't alway's Israel's interest, plain and simple.
One can correctly identify those who wrote or believe what Shas wrote as "ungrateful bastards"
... they are not fit to represent Israel in any forum, let alone government... a shame for Israel...
This article quotes Yitzhak Kakon as saying Obama is Muslim - but he's quite Christian. D'uh!
