Police and Shin Bet security service officials informed Attorney General Elyakim Rubinstein on Thursday that they intend to file charges against twelve citizens who took part in the violent scuffles between settlers and security forces during the evacuation of the Havat Gilad outpost in the West Bank several weeks ago.

Following the violence during the evacuation of the outpost, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon ordered Rubinstein to track down the settlers who harmed IDF soldiers and police so that they could stand trial.

It was also reported Thursday that indictments might be filed against settlers suspected of trying to assault Palestinian olive pickers in the northern West Bank in October. In several incidents, settlers shot in the air above the Palestinians, scuffled with them in order to prevent the harvest of olives, stole olives already harvested and burned olive groves. Several suspects have been detained for questioning.

The incidents have recently ceased after IDF Chief of Staff Moshe Ya'alon ordered the army to increase the number of troops guarding olive pickers.
