By Jack Khoury and Haaretz Correspondent Tags: Israel child abuseNine-year-old twin boys from the Galilee town of Sakhnin have been hospitalized for moderate and light wounds after their father told police he tried to kill them for being too loud.
The suspect, 35, on Sunday went to the Nahariya police station in bloodstained clothes and told police he believed he killed one of his sons. A patrol left the nearby Ma'alot police station to the man's house where officers forced open the door and found the boys semiconscious on the floor.
One of the children was bloodied and his throat had strangulation marks. Both were rushed to the Western Galilee Hospital in Nahariya for treatment. The children's mother, who was away at work at the time of the incident, did not leave their bedsides. She said she had not noticed any change in behavior by her husband.
Sakhnin residents said they were shocked by the incident and that the man was quiet and introverted with no previous history of violence.
The police are investigating the incident and said the man had no previous convictions. The suspect will undergo psychiatric evaluation, the police added.
