Sacha Baron Cohen to guide the Simpsons around Israel
After 20 seasons, the animated series The Simpsons comes to Israel to meet an angry Israeli tour guide.
By City Mouse Online Tags: Israel newsSeveral episodes of the hit animated series The Simpsons have dealt with Jewish issues, and even the Middle East conflict over the years. However, it wasn't until the series' 21st season that Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie will finally visit Israel and meet a bitter and angry Israeli tour guide, played by Sacha Baron Cohen (whose characters Bruno and Borat have made him a household name.)
In the episode, tentatively set to air in the U.S. on March 28, 2010, the Simpsons find themselves in Israel, and Homer develops Jerusalem Syndrome and becomes convinced that he is the messiah.
Simpsons producer Al Jean told Entertainment Weekly that Baron Cohen will partake in aggressive dialogue with Marge Simpson. "He's trying to get Marge to give him good grades on the comment card, and she goes, 'You people are pushy,' and he goes, 'What do you mean, you people? You try having Syria for a neighbor! What do you have -Canada?'" Jean said in an interview.
The episode, named "The greatest story ever D'ohed," is scheduled to coincide with Palm Sunday. "It'll be a show that all faiths can come together and be offended by," Jean promised fans of the show.

i am from israel and i saw this episode and it was very bad. we are very nice and patient and we eat other things instead "falafel". i didnt enjoy this episode and me and my family are big fans of simpsons.
If the Simpsons came to visit "Post Mandela" South Africa they would be mugged and robbed and left standing in their underwear. S.A has now become a hell hole for both its whete and black citizens. Wait and see what a disaster the 2010 world cup is going to be.
Ah, I can't wait to see this episode.
I was only kidding!
Would they have had the Simpsons visit pre-Mandela South Africa? Surely not, so why Israel?
1. you cannot spell your own 'name'. (you must be intelligent) 2. ther are NO 'occupied territories. these are LIBERATED territories. since i don't know where you live, i can ASSURE you, that wherever it is - somebody else lived there before and don't give me this israel-bashing crap
The Toronto Film Festival was totally sold out before it opened. Jane Fonda did an 180 degree turn and apologized for her comments. It was a total smash success. So much for the proposed boycott.
its common knowledge that the Toronto Int. Film Festival (TIFF) protest was worded and based on ignorance and stretched truths. like Tel Aviv being build on "destroyed Palestinian villages". but you seem like you are too busy being angry with anything positive about Israel.
You really have your hooks into Israel while completely ignoring why Israel is in this position. Going through life with islamic blinders on must be not only cumbersome but like having a daily dose of bigotry administered in a bitter pill. Let me remind you of some of what the muslims have done to in dear themselves to the world... muslim bombing of pan am flight 103,bombing world trade center 1993,assination of Rabbi Kahane, bombing of marine barracks in lebanon, bombing military barracks in saudi arabia, bombing of american embassy in africa,9/11 and attack of uss cole. I will not list the number of Jews who have been murdered by muslims because you are not interested.Israel has protected themselves not caused havoc on the world and you call yourself a peace lover...more like a lover of islamic jihadists with a very limited memory when it comes to the real terrorists of the world.
the only people who will not be satired or parodied will be the Muslims. They'll be given a free pass.
Or, as I suspect, will this be another whitewash showing off the glimmering surface of Israel while ignoring the ugly, brutal realities just below that surface (see Toronto Film Fest controversy)?
Welcome Simpsons -we love you and maybe you are the Messiah, Homer!!! Aiii Caramba
Let's just hope that it lives up to expectations and offends people of all faiths equally!
Now we have to boycott the Simpsons too!!!
