Actually it is Lebanon who has lost, now Hezboallah is more entrenched in Lebanon. Not since the end of WW11 has there been a war with a finality. All the wars since them have come to some sort of a mutually agreed end of hostilities. The same with the Israeli war with lebanon and with the Gaza war Cast Lead. Re Lebanon and Gaza. Israel has had nukes for several years and although it's been in conflicts throughout that time it has not used these weapons. If Iran acquires nukes the chances Israel will be forced to use their nukes goes way up. Rather than being safer with nukes Iranians will increase their chance of being bombed.

As far as Israel being weak militaraly, consider this. In the 1980s when Vanunu blew the whistle on Israel's nuclear program it was believed Israel had about 300 nuclear weapons in 20 years of development. Since then another 20 years passed, Israel wasn't sitting on its backside saying that's enough, I bet todate Israel has between 800 to 1000 nukes, making it a mini super power. On top of that Israel has one of the highest technologicaly developed military industries in the world, would you like to even guess at what type of military and electronic weapons Israel possesses.

I don't know where the Iranians get this idea that Israel is weak. I have been studying Israeli military and political development since 1967, since indirectly I was involved in that war. Any military expert will tell you Israel didn't loose in Lebanon, it didn't achieve all its objectives but at the end Israel was controlling Lebanese territory.In Gaza, Israel stopped the daily barage of missiles, it was not in Israel's interest to totally defeat Hamas, as that would unite Gaza and the west bank. In the past, Israel did perform two bombing missions to attack foreign nuclear threats (perceived or not.) The two missiona are Iraq in 1984; and Syria in 2008. Neither worked very well. In 1984, the United Nations decided that Israelis owe both the government of Iraq restitution and the owner of the power plant france additional money. The President of iraq recently reminded Israeli's of their debt. Now in Syria, which is more controversal, a shell of a building or a warehouse or something was bombed by Israelis. Since the end products were never entered into the site, like enriched uranium (which would be geigher counter detechable.) what ever readings could be nothing but background or the source material could have trasnported to the site. As long as the Palestinian-Israeli issue is not solved, I believe Israel will not find lots to support it against any nuclear threat from Iran or others. Any nuclear threat against Israel is in fact a threat aginst the whole region. Imagine Iran threatens Israel, the whole Islamic People will clapp hands for it.
