Report: Pollard proposes killing Palestinian prisoners until Shalit freed

Jailed spy Jonathan Pollard reportedly said Israel should refuse to yield to Hamas demands.

Convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard made clear that he strongly opposed the prisoner exchange deal to free Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit, reported the Jerusalem Post on Wednesday.

Pollard has been in an American jail for over 20 years for spying for Israel while serving as a U.S. Navy intelligence analyst.

Pollard met with Likud activists Moshe Feiglin and Shmuel Sackett at his prison in North Carolina.

Instead of talking about freeing Palestinian prisoners, Pollard said, "Netanyahu should take the list of prisoners Hamas requested and kill one of them every day until they release Gilad from prison."In a letter sent to the Jerusalem post and published last week, Pollard wrote, " Why is the life of one Israeli captive deemed so precious that Israel's leaders are willing to dispense with all logic and morality in order to redeem him?"

"As long as Israeli leaders demonstrate a unanimous will to exploit the value of rescuing one captive because it suits their political ends, while simultaneously ignoring another captive, there can be no national honor, nor national self-respect," the letter said.

My Dear Debbie, I agree that Barghouti is a "big fish." But could please explain what you meant when you said "Use him to gain both Gilad AND Pollard`s release"? Why do you think the Americans would trade Pollard for Barghouti? Or do you beieve that Hamas wants Barghouti free so badly that they will order the Americans to release Pollard? Please explain. I was puzzled when you propose

.Pollard violated the plea bargain agreed upon with the prosecution, and gave a forbidden interview to Wolf Blitzer.Wasn't for that he could be have been out many years ago.Not happy with that first stupid decision,he made a second one refusing to ask for parole. .He wants to be seen as a martyr,a hero for the israeli and jewish cause.Seems to me that he is another deranged jew with a messiah complex, like many others in the past.Any comparison with Gilad Shalit is absurd.Shalit didn't betray Israel, but Pollard betrayed his own birth country. He proved with this most recent declaration that he doesn't give a damn about Shalit"s life, because obviously Hamas would execute him if Israel followed his advice. .Only a fascist at heart could come with such proposition(all or nothing). .I only wonder why such an individual would receive clearance to deal with highly classified documents.Couldn't be perceived from the beginning his unstable character?

"Please, release Pollard to the gerneral prison population" - Uncle Sam That would be a deliberate act of murder by prisoner. The man was not condemned to death, but in the general population he would not last a week. Even the worst criminals in America know the increase in status they might achieve by killing traitors or baby rapers. Pollard might deserve death, but his treason was during peace time, and thus he should not be placed where his sentence would be extended to a most justified death sentence.

Let the Israeli government first release the list of those prisoners before we start the killing process. I guess, the list would consist of lots of woman and children and that's why the Israeli part is insisting on not making it public.

umm Debbie I hate to break this to you, but Pollard is no principled Israeli spy. He was selling the same info to other countries like South Africa and Pakistan. He has cloaked himself in his Jewish identity to dupe people like you into thinking that he was really doing all that spying out of nationalist solidarity with Israel. The US is being nice, in most countries people caught spying like he was (especially with the volume of info he sold) would have been executed.

As insurance against Hamas immediately killing Gilad when the first prisoner dies, we hold Gaza City hostage. As goes Gilad, so goes Gaza City. A prisoner for every day Gilad is kept from his home and parents. If they kill him in response, Gaza City dies as a consequence. Arab blood is as cheap as Jewish blood.

I think this is a great idea. Rather than rewarding terrorists for the capture of an Israeli soldier, make it so unnatractive for any future captives to be taken. You hopefully save Shalit and discourage future kidnappings by doing this.

and what would advise netanyahu when after one or two, shalit's body is dumped over the fence into israel? keep on killing them? lol...that'd really go over well with international opinion. [pssst, hey pollard...that's the kind of thing the nazis did, and israel doesn't need to borrow any more of their tactics for collective punishment; it doesn't look good man...think about what you're saying!]

For a nation that thrives on martyrdom, Pollard proposes giving them hundreds of more martyrs. Of course they'd kill Shalit in return! The real answer is for Israel to issue 500 new building permits a day for each additional day Shalit is help prisoner. Then for each kassam rocket Israel moves the Gaza border fence 100 meters south (some guy on Ynet had the idea - a great one!). In 100 days, Israel will be building 50,000 new homes in Judea and Samaria. For every 10 kassams fired at Israel (each one a war crime, by the way, according to Goldstone) Gaza loses 1 km of territory. I wonder - will the Palestinians then come back to the negotiating table in order to get us to stop? Pollard is a moron. Killing the Palestinians simply feeds their pathetic suicidal bloodlust. Hit the Palestinians where it counts.

While it is true that the "palestinian prisoners" involved in the impending surrender deal with the Hamas terrorist group should have been given the death penalty initially, Pollard raises a possible positive outcome of their imprisonment instead of death. We don't have any illusions that the Hamas leaders care about the prisoners to be freed. At best, their families care, those who have not been so brainwashed as to believe in the ideal of their martyrdom. I may very well be that killing them off one by one would be a good way to pressure Shalit's abductors to hand him over. At the very least, some mass murderers will receive their just punishment. If they kill Gilad, who is lucky to be alive in any case, they lose their only bargaining chip and the rest of the murderers on their list could be dispensed with. All in all, this is a much better idea than the leftist plan to reward murderers and kidnappers with political and material gains.

POLLARD MUST BE PART OF ANY PRISONER EXCHANGE

    • 02.12.09
    • 10:56

Of course, he doesn't want to be released that way. He is a principled person. He only turned over information to Israel because of principles---that America violated an agreement to give Israel the information and because denying Israel the information put her at existential risk. But he is a captive and has no choice in the matter. It is time to put this episode behind all of us. Barghouti is too big a fish to just throw in with another 1000 prisoners. Like Dennis Ross said about Pollard---you don't have too many cards like this one to play. Use him to gain both Gilad AND Pollard's release. This idea was already floated a few years ago. If Pollard is not included in any deal, then we can know that our own government is in collusion with those who want him dead in prison. Another crime to add to the list that grows daily. Give us puny little citizens some little shred of hope that our own government is not completely corrupt at every level. Bring Pollard home!!!!

Who Cares What Traitor Pollard Thinks or Says

Frankly, I don't understand why this traitor is given such free access to the Media, particularly the Israeli Media. Pollard betrayed his country of birth. No act of espionage is justified, and a person calling himself a Jew committing such an act is a hypocrite to say the least. Pollard's views on what to do with Palestinian prisoners is no different than what the Nazis would have done. He betrays the notion that we were chosen to live a righteous life based on the Torah. Where does it say that we can legitimately kill 980 civilian prisoners for one IDF soldier? That is racism, pure and simple, and we Jews are supposed to oppose those who persecute and treat people in a prejudicial manner. Is this the kind of learning your Government teaches you Israelis? I feel sorry for you.

...nobody this stupid can possibly have sucessfully spied for Israel. Now: Israel is a democratic state - NOT a Mexican drug cartel. The international outcry and threats of war aside, the only result would be Shalit decapitated on the Internet. And: Hamas would love for Israel to start creating Islamic martyrs en masse and flame the fans of muslim extremism world wide. Do Pollard also think we should export weapons and explosives to Hamas?

    Pollard: unbalanced and diagnosed

Pollard is a refitted hack who got religion in jail. But unlikie most refitted jailbird Jesuses, Pollard also got himself a 2nd wife who was savvy enough to know that if she remanufactured him in the form of a religious right folk hero, she would gain miles on financial support. And with no one interested in stopping her from revising history and making him out to be some savior she can pull off the greivin' widder act to the full hilt. The fact is, the Pollard camp has no qualms about overtly lying about Pollard's intentions and actions and the damage he did and could potential do to harm US/Israel relations. Pollard has NO business issuing statements about any news event in Israel. He is not a hero, not an intellectual, not even a genuine Israeli. Pollard is a diagnosed unstable case who cannot possibly be considered a reasonable voice for anything. No media outlet should ever print his observations. He is nothing.
