Report: New Iran destroyer test fires missile

The Islamic Republic, embroiled in an escalating row with the West over its nuclear program, often announces advances in its military capabilities and stages missile tests in an apparent bid to show its readiness to counterattack.
Neither Israel nor the United States have ruled out military action if diplomacy fails to resolve the dispute over atomic work the West fears is aimed at making bombs but which Tehran says is for peaceful power generation.
Fars said the Jamaran destroyer, the first Iranian-built warship of its type, launched last month at a ceremony attended by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, successfully test fired the Nour (Light) missile.
"The destroyer's missile system was tested and the firing of the Nour surface-to-surface missile towards the intended target was successfully conducted," the semi-official news agency said.
Much of Iran's naval equipment dates from before the 1979 Islamic revolution and is U.S. made.
The United States said in January it had expanded missile defense systems in and around the Gulf -- a waterway crucial for global oil supplies -- to counter what it sees as Iran's growing missile threat.
Iran condemned the move and accused Washington of seeking to stoke "Iran phobia".

looking at the picture I think the missile's target is somewhere in the gulf states, probably Dubai in the UAE, could even be the house of the Dubai police chief. I am waiting to hear the results.

Iran has every right to protect itself from Israel's threats, war mongering, saber rattling.

So a country is test firing weapons, does haaretz always report this or only on countries where the US is likely to start war with.

Like North Korea,Iran beats it's chest and would only commit suicide if it attacked Israel. Yet the Isaeli government in need of an external threat rants about Iran. It is the treatment of Palestinians that gives Iran an in into the groups radicalised by the occupation of their lands. And then a scenario manifest by irrational Israeli strategist becomes the 'target of the moment'. Remove the need for Iranian support for Hamas and Hezbollah and halas, Iran is futher isolated. One can only imagine that psychiatrists do a raging business in Israel wherein attachments to anxieties generate by the Israeli government precipitate into neurosis. The 'war of ideas' is the better mode of freeing Iranians from the dictators they have. Every time Israel reacts to fool #1 he gets more plaudits and is more entrenched. He needs an exterior villan too. Deny him the propaganda and expedite his demise. Iranians do not deserve their leaders nor to be affected by their undemocratic presence.
That's why the the Brits scream so much about the "illegal passports" ,to cover their dealings with Iran .
