Report: Nationalist motive behind Jerusalem stabbing of Arab
Police suspect Jewish teenager is responsibble for several related attacks in the past.
By Liel Kyzer Tags: Israel newsThe Jerusalem stabbing of an Arab man by a Jewish teenager was nationalistically motivated, police sources said on Friday, also revealing that the 16-year-old had already been involved in numerous past incidents of anti-Arab violence.
On Thursday, Jerusalem police arrested the teenager on suspicion that he had stabbed a 42-year-old Arab man in the stomach earlier in the day at Levi Eshkol street on the city's northeast side.
The 16-year-old boy turned himself in, telling police that he had acted in self defense after the man attacked him.
A Jerusalem magistrate's court extended the teen's remand by five days.
The Arab man was hospitalized in moderate condition after sustaining numerous wounds to his stomach following the stabbing. The suspect fled the scene immediately following the event.
"Questioning of the victim has revealed that the assailant was a yarmulke-wearing Jew, and had no prior relationship with the victim," said a police official. According to the victim, the assailant just approached him, stabbed him once, and fled.
Police sources said the teenager was involved in numerous assaults against Arabs, including an attack in East Jerusalem's Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, as well as hurling rocks near Carmel, south of Hebron and near the settlement Yitzhar.
The assailant's attorney, Ariel Herman, said that the boy had led a normal life, while refusing to address his client's version of Thursday's events.

heres Israel's chance to show it's not one law for the Arabs and another for the Jews, but we all know it's not going to happen..
"nationalistically" or "for the nation"? What nation ? A quarter of the citizens of Israel are of Palestinian origin, like the man who was stabbed. Could the person who wrote the headline see the young attacker's motives as somehow patriotic ? Or is there just a concern to avoid the word "racist" ?

as jews we must never lower ourselves to their level. condolences to the arab man
I wonder if this 16 year old would still be running free to stab people. Nope, if a kid throws a rock at a soldier they lock him up.
There is no war and the kid wasn't a soldier, so that was terrorism. Whether or not it's an Arab or a Jew doing it.
Lock him away he is a disturbed individual and deserves to be punished as an enemy of peace. Terror is an international crime, it is an act against the whole world. Lock him away throw away the key
