Here's what they should have explained: There were already several Arab villages in those sand dunes when Tel Aviv was founded. Every inch of the newly constructed tram network which is springing near the Old City, has been excavated in case it should contain evidence of Jewish graves/bodies. It is my fervent hope that Jews around the world who read this article or heard about these disgraceful people boycotting the Toronto Film Festival never attend a play by the self hater Eve Ensler or a movie in which Danny Glover or Jane Fonda is in. Jane Fonda aidsx and abetted North Vietnamese who were killing U.S. soldiers and Danny Glover's hero is the dictator Hugo Chavez. Eve Ensler and Naomi Klein are Jews who despise their own people. By boycotting Israel in this manner they are declaring themselves against the State of Israel. This is not a protest about Judea and Samaria but about 1948 Israel and it is imperative that Jews everywhere boycott those who deny the existence of Israel which these people are doing.

La Fonda is, at best, a "has been" and this is the only way she expects to get atention. Her political views are well known and therefore Toronto is better off by her not attending. To claim that TA was built on top of Arab homes when it was nothing but empty dunes before the first shovel hit the ground is proof positive of: a) her ignorance; b)her blind hatred for Israel My thanks to all in this talkback who are against her. Israels only responsibility is to protect Israelis and Jews. For 2000 years NO government did that. What the world thinks about Israel is of NO consequence. None, nada, zilch. Its to bad that you can't grasp that concept. So go on with your life and forget about it.

The Toronto Film Festival's honouring of Israel's centre of commerce and culture, Tel Aviv, for its 100 year anniversary should be a celebrated event. In 1930, Tel Aviv was a small town of only 20,000 inhabitants with very little settlement and minimal paved roads. The Jewish people bought the mainly marsh land to build the city to what it is today. Where Anti-Semitism was prevalent globally, this was one place considered a haven for Jews to escape and flourish as their cultural capital of the modern State of Israel. People are confusing the disputed settlements established after 1967 in the West Bank to the establishment of Tel Aviv. It's also useful to remind critics that there are archeological sites all over Israel where on top of synagogues were built churches and on top of churches mosques.

Jane Fonda was cavorting with the North Vietnamese and posing for propaganda pictures with the enemy, while American prisoners,like John McCain, were being systematically tortured. She has not retracted nor apologized for her shameful acts.She is a disgrace and a traitor,and should be treated as such!

Those who focus disproportionately on ISrael do so because they are recists hiding behind a left wing cloak. When they take to task other countries which are truly brutal murderous dictatorships they will be taken seriously by Jews. Racist Fonda is less vocal when it comes to Zimbabwe, Myanmar, China , Iran to name but a few ... because they are not Jewish. The protestors seem to forget who started the violence on the day the United Nations approved the creation of the state of Israel in 1948. They also forget how the Palestinian populace rejoiced in the streets at the news of the horrible crimes committed in the US on September 11, 2001. They also forget all the airplane highjackings of the past, the school bus bombings,the suicide killers in restaurants,the daily shelling of civilian areas lasting for years. Jane Fonda is an old woman that once she was an actress with talent. Since all that she has now is her mouth without much brain, I would not take her seriously. She is part of a group of people that due to a sunset fame wants to stay still in the spot. I do not know what is her formal education, but she is older than the state of Israel, and if she did care about the world and was reading newspapers - that I doubt, she was able to remember the historical facts.
