Report: IDF arrests 5 Palestinian intelligence officers
Officials include Mohammad Abdel Hamid, commander of intelligence in the West Bank town of Salfit.
By Haaretz Service Tags: Palestinian Authority Israel news IDFPalestinian sources said Israel arrested five senior officials from the Palestinian General Intelligence Service in an overnight raid on Friday, Israel Radio reported.
The officials include Mohammad Abdel Hamid, commander of intelligence in the West Bank town of Salfit.
A Palestinian security source in Salfit said the arrests were apparently made in the wake of an investigation being carried out by the General Intelligence Service against a man suspected of collaborating with Israel, Israeli media reported.
The Israel Defense Forces are seeking the arrest of an additional Palestinian officer who was not apprehended Friday.
Meanwhile on Friday, Fatah officials told a Nazereth-based newspaper that the faction had made a strategic decision to declare a third intifada against Israel, citing the failed peace talks as the reason for their resolution.
A top Fatah official interviewed by the newspaper said the third intifada will have a widespread popular base, adding, however, that unlike the previous popular struggle against Israel, which was sparked in September 2000, the movement will not endorse armed struggle.

If the types of behavior he speaks against are necessary for the existence of Israel, would that not give reasons why there should not be an Israel?
don't you worry Israel, no Intifada in the horizon, it's not something a political party can start, it will come from the people. but beware, when it comes, it will come hard!
You basically want to reward a culture of hatred and terror with the ultimate gift...the destruction of Israel as we know it! Great outlook you have! Now let me ask you one thing...why do you hate Israel?
Israel must take harsh steps to ensure that crime -- or, in this case, Intifadeh -- doesn't pay.
Bibi has killed all hope for peace. Now all that is needed is an intifada to justify a brutal suppression and the seizure of more Palestinian land.
hope Im not the only one that understands it...
Many more moves like this and Israel will achieve the unity of Hamas and Fatah which Egypt so dearly wants. Is Mubarek running Israel's intelligence servicesd?
What's the charge? He did not jump high enough when the Shin Bet told him to?
...to occupation is a right ! continuing occupation and exansion leads to more resistance (and sometimes violence). If you cannot understand that, there's not much i can do for you.
First stop teaching your children that Palestinians have no rights to the land. Second start treating Palestinians with neighbourly respect. Third stop incessant, non-stop military aggression against Palestinian civilians held under siege and military occupation. Fourth learn how to negotiate with consideration for the other side and forget about continually taking away land that is supposed to be negotiated. Stop the continuous threats of unleashing your massive military power on the other side unless they do as you tell them. Start to see the outcome of the status quo---where there are no Palestinian neighbors because there is no possible border between you and them---and they are full and equal members of "greater Israel."
I don't suppose it has (or maybe even could) occurred to you, but ask yourself if any of the behaviors you mentioned are responses to things Israelis are doing to them, and are in fact things which may have considerable justification.
First stop preaching hate to your children. Second start treating Israeli Jews with neighbourly respect. Third stop incessant, non-stop aggression against Israeli civilians. Fourth learn how to negotiate wiht conciense and forget about demands and threats as you will have less and less because no one in their right mind would want to have violent, hateful palestinians as neighbours...
