Report: Dubai police chief tells Mossad head to 'be a man'
Dubai police chief urges Mossad director to admit Israel's role in killing of Hamas commander.
By Avi Issacharoff and Haaretz Correspondent Tags: Israel Mossad Israel newsDubai Police Chief Dahi Khalfan Tamim urged Meir Dagan, the director of Israel's Mossad spy agency, to "be a man" and admit that Israel stands behind last month's killing of Hamas chief Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, according to a report Saturday in Emirati newspaper Al-Khaleej.
Tamim also told the paper that Dubai has DNA evidence from one of the assassins and fingerprints from the crime scene.
Mabhouh was killed last month in his hotel room in what Dubai police have said they are near certain was a hit by Israel's Mossad spy agency. Police said the killers traveled to the Gulf Arab emirate using forged passports from the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany and Australia.
The Dubai police chief also said he believes Mabhouh's assassins are currently in Israel. He said he is seeking the creation of an international team of investigators from the five countries whose passports were used in the killing, and said those governments are all working closely with Dubai.
Tamim reiterated that if Mossad is found to have been behind the assassination, he would seek the arrest of Dagan and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

...the more he looks like Clouseau. Unless a bunch of former T.A.G. players went psycho and pick on this dead arms dealer, these 'assassins' acted like a bunch of Keystone Kops from the 20's! Who needs 26 trained operatives to take out one old man in an open, public, unguarded hotel?!? Hell, I could do it with 30 minutes as a cleaner, some chlorine bleach and Ammonia in his toilet. The Dubai police chief has no clues, no skill, and no idea who actually did the deed. Oh, and BTW, Israel wouldn't wait for 25 years to 'take revenge'.
This was a false flag operation... I believe Iran is behind it because of the embarresing attacks it recieved from the Mossad over the years. Just about all intelligence agencies have the ability to hack in & clone any document invented by mankind. Iran & Syria are the masters when it comes to flooding the U.S.& other parts of the world with counterfit U.S.$. Innocent until proven guilty. Let me know how that goes...ha , Ha........
Dubai police Chieffffff.............., Kalfan, (a more appropriate name! In Hebrew;card player, gambler.) Tamim, (In Hebrew it means; innocent, naive !) If the guy is so clever, how come he didn't catch anyone ? Now that he has failed,he doesn't know how to cover up his embarrassment. Had he shut up after the first interview, people would have thought he was a bright officer. But now,he's making a laughing stock of himself all over the world. There are advantages & disadvantages in having so many sly, peering cameras. With so much information gathered you lose count & control of the main object. Food for thought.
Dubai police chieff, You know what ? We're fed-up of you & your everyday interviews !
What a mixed up world we live in. The enemy lobes thousands of rockets into Israel and when Israel attacks the world governments say they used too much force. A murderer who has been responsible for many crimes is taken out and the world governments are worried about a few forged passports. Dubai allows this murderer to just fly in like he's Mother Teresa and than they complain when the situation turns violent. Left is right and right is left.
What do we have so far? Dubai obviously has surveillance, camera footage of the assassins going into the place. It then has records of who stayed there. It also then uses that information to see who entered and then Dubai presented that information to various European countries and Australia. In many cases, the faked passports were connected by name to citizens who are also Israelis, and, thus, Israel's agencies would have access to their information. The EU countries and Australia have no motive in killing a Hamas agent. Israel does, and it has Canadian passports in 1997 for a mission. Who wouldn't think it's Israel, then? I don't think the hit was really worth it. It harms Israel's image, and the names of some Israelis were used improperly. Of course, Mossad agents would not use their real names to blow their cover, so they would use the names of others. American passports were not used for some reason, but an American bank was used in order to buy the tickets.
Clearcut, what is for sure is that a terrorist was killed. And that is very good news. More to come, I hope.
So comical all of you in denial and yet at the same time praising the hit. How hypocritical of you! Also, how would these arabs who you are blaming get all that info from Israeli citizens passports? Not to mention have the technology to recreate authentic passports? Hypocrites! You know your country is guilty. What is just as comical is the response by all the govt reps of the other countries- the outrage- what a joke! They know they have no power to do anything with teeth against Israel. Their home countries Israeli lobbies will make sure of that! Please stop taking our tax dollars!
Was he? Was he not a threat to Israelis? Of course he was! Now, what about the people that considered killing him so important that they did far more harm to Israel and Israelis than he ever could? The terrorist, and the people who murdered him, are not in my opinion, moral people. Thus I have no way to judge this incident on 'moral grounds.' My dictionary says 'moral' means "of or relating to principles of right and wrong in behavior". But then as a lesser meaning it reads, "sanctioned by or operative on one's conscience or ethical judgment." By which both might be quite moral in murdering anyone they wanted to murder. I must go with the first meaning. But then I also must postulate that the interactions of Hamas and Mossad are amoral. Which is to say they ' lying outside the sphere to which moral judgments apply.' What is astounding is that the government of Israel now lacks the morality to stand up and admit it believed what it did was just and right, therefore moral.
I was raised to be a man. Be honest and stand up when I had screwed up. I understand the glee of the Dubai police chief. The last shoe has not dropped I suspect. And I can understand the profound silence of the Netanyahu Government and Mossad. It is embarrassing to be caught red-handed. I have always wondered if Nixon had gone out and simply stated 'of course we were bugging the democrats' would Watergate have brought him down? As he was re-elected by an overwhelming majority I don't think he would have been harmed. But since the democrats offered no danger, no threat, had no chance of winning in 1972, why the hell did he have the democrats bugged? Crazy people do crazy things. And then they are crazy enough to think they can bullshit the world that they didn't do that crazy thing. Was offending Dubai, the UAE, Australia, England, France, Germany and Ireland worth the pleasure of whacking a single terrorist? Probably not. But we have learned Bibi isn't man enough to be honest
I think Tamin killed Al Mahboub
so far there has been no sustantiated proof that Israel officials were involved...despite the claims by the vocal anti -semites! I have read that Iran and other Moslem states dispatch their critics to an end on a regular basis. maybe that's OK to some people who fault Israel. well, it aint!
LOL! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pc4HDW8xScs&feature=related
No evidence at all? Uk, France, Germany, Australia asked Israel to clarify his position. Nobody from the government denied that. It's like a nation is accused of some atrocity and it just decide to not reply. You probably haven't read any article. They found those people sharing their name with other Israelis. I repeat. How can you be so shameless? Just admit that your country has, among its options, the chance to solve its problem by murdering, slaughtering so on. Or do you want even to tell me that the Mossad never existed and they never killed anyone? Come on, grow up. In the end you might even be ashamed of being part of what you are.
MARK B WROTE: "Dubai police asking a man to admit in order to forgive and forget his blow on their honour...can take the heat away from Israel such as Dubai blocking further investigations and charges" according to dubai police we are talking about a crime case, allegedly murder. what does this have to do with the police chiefs "honour", pls ? either he has evidence to prove murder and in the following that it was committed by mossad, or he has to APOLOGIZE and stfu. there have been many murder cases all around the world which could not be solved. thats life - or death. so, that they now look like hysterical idiots is because of their own unbelievable, outrageous drivel and smears they are spilling - without bringing even a shred of evidence. he promised to bring evidence a couple of weeks ago. nothing seen yet. but more smears daily., if he has a "honour" problem, then its because of his big mouth.
Yes, Leo, that is very good advice for the Dubai chief. For a better panel of experts than the Lincolns, Linthwaites, Johnnyboys, he'd have to look far. The DO seem to have all the answers! "Perhaps he should consult some of the posters to Haaretz Talkback. Some of them seem to have all the answers. For example, Lintwait has pinpointed the DNA. I am sure Mark Lincoln knows the identity of the 24."
,eh ?
;)
Why should anyone help the Dubai police chief? If he is so good he would be able to name names right now. Perhaps he should consult some of the posters to Haaretz Talkback. Some of them seem to have all the answers. For example, Lintwait has pinpointed the DNA. I am sure Mark Lincoln knows the identity of the 24.
No.9. Either you do not know your history-not just of Israel, but the other (free nations?). Did Russia ever confess up to the Assasinations of former Soviet agents in England. Radioactive poisonning. Did the USA ever fess up to the CIA's involvement in the overthrow of the Allende Government and death of President Allende inn Dec 1974. Throughout history from pre-biblical times thru the middle ages (attempt to kill Queen Elizabeth) all nations have done what is necessary to protect the vital interests of its country and citizens. If Mossad did this (which doubt) more power to them. It was the same intercine killing going on in the Middle East for ages. It will never change!!!!!! They will also try to blame Israel for the earthquake in Chile!!
We are just commenting on his wild screams of frustration which he is taking out on Israel. Why should Israel confess to something it never did just to please him! We do sympathize with him over his big breach in security and hope he does not burst a blood vessel over it.
It's you, who are convinced of Mossad's guilt with no evidence at all, who should be ashamed! On what basis does anyone have to deny the Holocaust?
All the while there are ATROCITIES happening against innocents, and everybody yawns! This shows how deep the bigotry, bias and prejudice is in the irrational game of Israel-bashing. If you must, then SUSPECT Israel (although it stinks of a diversion that seemss to be working), but only ACCUSE when you have facts. Anything less is prejudice, which shows their true colors.
Dubai police asking a man to admit in order to forgive and forget his blow on their honour. I do not know about the evidence exactly but if it may stand in court, it may be strategically wise to take that hand. Arabs of Dubai showing their respect for Israel by this appeal on Dagan. If it can take the heat away from Israel such as Dubai blocking further investigations and charges (check this out!) it may well be worth while to stand grand for once by admitting to a crime by law (but not by ethics and moral, state that also!) and thus showing the respect Dubai longs for. Do not understimate the importance Arabs put on their perceived honour! And finally: the Mossad did f***-*p, did they not? Taking everybody for a fool does not promote soft sentence at the end of the day.
How can you be so shameless to deny the evidence? I wonder why are you so angry when people deny the Holocaust. What's the problem if the negationists are incoherent, shameless and arrogant as you?
Either way Netanyahu and Dagan are killers, and yes Israel is most likely behind this killing. What is the chance that all the assassins share names with 10 people from Israel, out of all countries. No country could and would want to pull this off, except Israel. All these imbeciles who post here, there is more proof Israel is behind this killing, then Iran is after nukes.Israel FAILED TO DATE show proof Iran is after nukes.
Your tired and worn-out robotlike accusation belies the kind of totalitarian monolithic 'state' that much of the world envisions for you, even though the 'palestinians' don't have a vision, go figure. Justice depends on facts and proof, not attitudes.
It's pretty silly of commenters to make fun of Tamim, given that his accusations are likely correct. Does anyone really doubt that the Mossad did this? Come on now, get real. The international justice system is a strange thing. We decry murder, but we allow governments to carry murders out, and find all kinds of moral justifications for this. Then, when another government cries foul, we complain. Mossad killed a man and it is reasonable for Dubai to lay charges against the perpetrators, even if no one will ever face justice.
Go ahead and apply the oil-backed money threat so the U.K. bows to Islamic pressure. So far it's worked pretty well. "Maybe no more TAX-FREE salaries until UK moves against the Israeli Terrorism in Dubai"
Chief Tamim is an important official and is doing an admiral job of investigating malfeasance in his jurisdiction. It does not help that certain talkbackers are portraying him in a disrespectful manner. Of course his public speeches would be a bit more authoritative-sounding if he would ditch the diaper on his head, and the fan belt holding it from blowing off.
what was the sample (hair, fingerprint...?) what does it tell ? depending on the sample it might tell, where the person was living (what geographical areas) etc... probably the sample would tell if the person was jewish ?
It's now obvious that the only hope this Dubai police prat has to solve this case is to get Dagan to "be a man" and confess. It's obvious, therefore, that Tamim is not "man" enough, or just simply too incompetent to solve it himself. "be a man" and admit that Israel stands behind last month's killing of Hamas chief Mahmoud al-Mabhouh
the police chief of dubai is correct. Meir Dagan needs to have some decency and be a man instead of hiding behind his many crimes.
This is a must see comedy routine on the phrase "be a man" http://samaw.com/russel-peters-be-a-man-video/471
h affair accusing the mossad are not founded on evidences but rather on politically motivated obscurantism . Such Dubai Police Chief Dahi Khalfan Tamim conduct show that the U.A.E is a illigetime power , That for illegal propaganda purposes uses the illegal tactics of the illegal former KGB of the illegal former U.S.S.R.
Who Is more 'Man' Dubai Or israel? vote it as a response to me. actually this investigation has become a series of magazine news. people just following it to have a laugh. thanks to Dubai police who made world a funnier place for me. And reply to me in the end of the day i wanna see who has more ''b*ll's'' i wanna know who has a more testosterone in his blood? Dubai Police chief Khalfan Tamim? or Chief of Mossad Meir Dagan? Be a man maaan!! Ridiculous :D
You all basically say the same things "you can`t be sure its us"(I hope) & "Dubai is stupid and don`t really have anything" (I hope). To my mind these are squeamish responses born solely from fear. Israeli citizens seem to unanimously support the crime. A murder committed in another country using forgery, deceipt, lying...etc What`s to keep any other country from committing whatever crimes it feels necessary?? Against any other nationality! Using whatever means! And to H*LL with International Law?? Would you all support that?? What a wonderful model Israel (the only democracy in the Middle East, HA!) is giving to the world. So disappointing..
Israel would never send 30 men and spend at least $100,000 to kill a Hamas operative who killed two Israelis 25 years ago. This was an operation against Iranian-Hamas big weapon deal. Dont be surprised if a large Iranian ship full of arms was hijacked by the agents. It is certainly not what it seems on the surface.
It is not too late for the Arabs to lead the way in confessions. Tamim should not cajole Israel to confess first without cajoling Assad to confess to Rafik Hariri's assassination in Lebanon. Tamim should beg Assad to set the example.
Dubai from now on, should require a visa from its embassy to all citizens of mentioned countries, and let those people deal with their governments of being so friendly to Israel. Maybe no more TAX-FREE salaries until UK moves against the Israeli Terrorism in Dubai
It is not too late for an Arab state to lead the way in confessions. Tamim should not cajole Israel to confess before first cajoling Syria to set the example by confessing first.
Then stop hiding behind forged passports excuse and explain why killing Jews is OK,but killing those who killed them is a crime.
how about a debate on tv betweet dubai police chief and this so called Mossad Head. and let the best man / sissy win... lololol
The person's real name behind the investigation is Peter Sellers!
... by ignoring REAL atrocities, the true prejudiced character of the armchair 'sleuths' worldwide is exposed.
black. all arab/bedouins have know idea of the definition of what a man is. If they read the Penetuch they still would'nt understand there are guttless cowards.
Confess. And I see the hate-Israel crowd is demanding that we confess because it is good for the 'soul'. I will inform you that we are not Catholics and do not believe in confession. 2nd the Keystone cops in Dubai could find their own rear ends with 2 hands, a mirror, a compass, a GPS, a roadmap, and a guide. All of the evidence points to a "Palestinian" hit. That is who has been arrested, they used well over 2 dozen people, and three of them fled to their fellow terrorists in Iran. No Israeli involvement at all.
no findings is just wishful thinking. Too Much Publicity and Too Many Proud and capable countries involved. Resignations will be the least of Israel's worries.
carerful what you wish for
Dubai Police Chief Dahi Khalfan Tamim, may the Grim Reaper pay you a visit soon...you are getting annoying (and boring)...
macho igo talking.
There is no incriminating evidence of the Mossad’s involvement in this incident. The Dubai Police Chief has nothing to present and is left with the last option of blowing hot air
The police chief must be a standup comic as well.He wants the Mossad chief to admit to the assasination....now here comes the punchline....so that he "can seek the arrest of Meir Dagan and PM Nethanyehu" The man is priceless. He desrves a Mastercard.
WHere is this ad, Elisabeth? Al I can see is an ad for back pain. Be thinks your imagination runneth away with you....."
No, that's not a grammatical error. It's a quote from "Alice in Wonderland" - where the Dunai police chief lives. All his "evidence" is just too good to be true. The more he comes up with, the more unrealistic it appears. Like Alice, the man is living in a fantasy world.
Careful what you believe (i know the temptation fto believe what you want to believe is verfy great) - you soon may have a lot of egg smeared all over your face.
passports were forged of JEWISH folk. If Mossad was involved, it means that the Israeli Government would even stoop that low. To use their own as cannon fodder. To ruin the lives of innocent Jewish folk. To admit to such a thing might un-ravel their denialist world. So rather than admit (anything), they become shrill and point elsewhere, like little children caught with their hand in the cookie jar.
If Tamim wants to win the first prize for best costume he needs to appear dressed in uniform. C?mon Tamim be a man and wear that uniform. We are all waiting for that picture.
Dubai is no more near resolving this propaganda event than they were two weeks ago and I bet in ten years time they will still be accusing Israel without any proof. This police chief has gone into the realms of fantasy with his accusations.
This from an Estonian on the website of a newspaper in the Jewish state. Amazing.
The so called Mossad Involvement, nobody really knows that there are Nato Hit Teams, Euro Hit Teams, this is not Mossad's work, why would they not have taken out the video cameras, the schematics of the hotel? This is not Mossad, this is a sloppy j loppy of fools trying to taint Israel so the war is prevoked against them. Would not surprise me if this was a stunt by Hamas, because this guy was a double agent for Mossad. Now they use the blame to taint Mossad. Simple act of revenge that works to taint Israeli Intelligence. And for the fact DNA sample was found in a room, more like this is starting to sound like the Bourne Supremecy. Everyone knows samples are tainted. Dubai the country of every darn Persian Gulf War Lord who wants to start fights with anyone. The people behind this you must be very stupid, cause it's so obvious what you are doing. And you will die in your beds before to long.
otherwise he would not bother people with stupid requests. He should "be a man" and "admit" he has no clue...
Dubai Police Chief Dahi Khalfan Tamim should be the man and admit he has absolutely no evidence linking Dagan and the Mossad to the taking out of Mabhouh. Stop grasping at straws and come clean. Be a MAN.
Re:Passports. Looking at the mug-shots I thought the blonde one was supposed to be 'sexy', Its another man! And the fake names? Come on, if Mossad were so clever they could have put normal Irish names on them, I would never have said they were 'Irish' names. Anyway I'm never upset when men die by the sword they lived by, thats fair enough, they risk such ends when they take up a dangerous profession, and what is more dangerous than fighting for your honest beliefs? For the assassins? They were all caught. Ok they got away, now only plastic surgery and a new identity will protect them. What a sad life that is. Will it prevent a two-state solution, will it really change a single thing about the future of Israel? No, of course not. But if dressing up as women and using fake passports to torture and kill people makes the fat/rich political class in Jerusalem feel safer, ok.
is that a conflict with Iran is very unlikely now. Some governments in the West may still take Israel's side, but their voters won't. Just ask ordinary Europeans and Aussies which country is the greater threat to their peace of mind now. My guess: it isn't Iran. Bibi's blind arrogance shot himself in the foot with this Mossad fiasco.
Issue the warrants already , if you have evidence . Othewise ......STFU !!!
There's not a shred of evidence linking Israel to the assassination. The mossad one of the best intellegence agencies in the world wouldn't jepordize itself by sending two dozen agents into an enemy country all within hours of each out and pull them out in mass within 48 hours after landing, no intelegence agency would do it. Which leaves the Palestinians themselves. Any Palestinian working at Heathrow or Charles De Gaul airports, could get info on Israelis whose names are mentioned when they come home or travel through Europe. So to Dubai police chief, take off your blinders and stop running around in circles, stop looking at preconceived notion or where you are pointed by Palestinians to embarass Israel, you're emberassing yourself.
And they probably shouldn't. After all a confession to murder will most certainly result in arrest warrants for murder being issued for Dagan and uh, whats that other murderers name? Oh yeah, Netanyahu. I'm sure if Israel allowed all the Israelis whose idenity was stolen to be interviewed they would find a common link that would show Mossad was involved. THAT is why THAT will NEVER happen.
Remind me how many people that the assisinated man has murdered him self? I think there are more important things to worry about and spend money on than the execution of a murderer..
there isn't a "man" within the entire Arab population.
... for a valid response...
"if Mossad is found to have been behind the assassination, he would seek the arrest of Dagan and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu" Ok, and if is not, who will be arrested? The Ajatolah?
this Dubai Police chief gets funnier every day now. His delusion of how world politics play out, so as to think the international community is going to put Israeli leaders on trial for the killing of a Terrorist commander makes me laugh. Arabs love to claim any victory they can for killing innocent Israelis, but suddenly when a NOT innocent Muslim extremist is dead, somehow this is reason for an international tribunal? Like I said, the Dubai police chief needs to smoke less Hash and realize that just because his country profits from oil sales, doesn't mean anyone in the world body gives a crap about Dubai's sense of the international justice system. Stick to building large hotels with foreign money made by oil profits, and leave common sense to the rest of the world please. ;)
This has become a tedious, dragged out opera. The fat lady long ago sang her song, yet the curtain refuses to mercifully conclude the tedium. Fess up, Mossad. Confession is good for the soul.
Information seems to be leaking out of this inquiry as fast as water out of their aquarium. It looks like the sharks are not the only ones who are wet behind the ears.
Next to this talkback section there is this add that keep coming up, glorifying 'targeted killing units'. If you are so open about it anyway, why not admit this killing too?
I clearly remember Tamim saying that he would disclose the "smoking gun" right as he said he was 99%, if not 100%, that Mossad is behind this assassination. It is one thing to openly speculate with the rest of the commentators, but it is another for a police to chief to talk the talk, but fail to walk the walk.
Have long since expired. He keeps dribbling non-proofs just to extend them. DNA and fingerprints are useless unless you have something to compare them to. They'll probably turn out to belong to the chambermaid. If he had anything that could be construed as real proof that Israel is responsible, he would have shouted it from the rooftops already.
This is really funny, we all know who commited the crime, we know their names, look, and where they live... yet, israelis are still shy to admit it... double shame on them, for commiting the crime, and for denying it.
ban any sane person believe that he actually said that ??
if mr. tamin was "a man", he would give an open international press conference, presenting their evidence and answering questions, instead of calling the local newspapers in a round and brushing them off with "phrases" nobody can make head or tail of.
Dubai Police Chief. Say. Is he feeling well ? Probably got the fever !
I have my Joke of the Day delivered to me thanks to Dahi Khalfan Tamim - Thank You!
and admit he is clueless. Of course, that's essentially what he IS saying with each statement. Poor guy is getting rather shrill.
