Report: Al-Qaida CIA bomber was furious over Gaza war
Al-Quds Al-Arabi: Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi made numerous attempts to join Gaza aid group.
By Jack Khoury Tags: Afghanistan Israel news Gaza warThe Jordanian national that attacked a U.S. military base in Afghanistan, killing 7 CIA agents, was furious over the Israel's Gaza offensive, the London-based Arabic daily Al-Quds Al-Arabi reported on Thursday.
The report quotes the brother of Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi as saying that his brother, a physician, had even made numerous attempts to join Jordan's doctor's association as way of reaching the Gaza Strip and aiding the local population.
The attack was carried out by a Jordanian, Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi, who had been recruited by the CIA as a counterterrorism intelligence source.
Al- Balawi's brother added that his brother had notified their family that he intended to travel to Turkey to meet up with his wife, but she said he never arrived.
"We thought that he was in Gaza the whole time," the brother told Al-Quds Al-Arabi.
He added that the family received an anonymous phone call in which they were told that Al- Balawi had perpetrated the Afghanistan attack.
Family members said that Jordan security forces had sealed off the area of Amman in which they live, blocking media representatives from entering.
Family members said Balawi, a doctor, was a member of a large Bedouin Palestinian clan that settled in Zarqa, a hotbed of Islamic radicalism in Jordan where many dispossessed Palestinians moved after Israel's creation in 1948. He ran a clinic in an impoverished refugee camp, they said.
Also on Thursday, the Al-Qaida terror network said that the attack was in retribution for the deaths of several Pakistani Taliban leaders last year.
According to a statement posted on Islamist websites, the attack avenged the deaths of Baitullah Mehsud, the Pakistani Taliban leader killed by a US missile strike in August, as well as the deaths of Abi Saleh el-Somali and Abdullah el-Libi.
The two other Taliban commanders were killed in a drone attack in Pakistan's North Waziristan region in December.
Al-Qaida immediately claimed responsibility for the December 30 blast at a US base in Khost, south-eastern Afghanistan.

It is Israeli intellectually vacuous propaganda that is delusional. The problem is Israeli violations of other peoples human rights: not Islam. You should learn that the most effective US allies in war against Islamic terrorism are Arab states. Countries like Saudi Arabia are in the front line, along with Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait and the Gulf states. They provide the US superb intelligence and military support. Recently, over a 4-day period, the Saudis killed 15 members of Al Qaeda, and they have over 200 in prison. It is also supporting Yemen on its NE border with air strikes against Islamic terrorist elements. (Al Qaeda.) You should know Israel is not involved in this fight. It talks big but considers Hamas and Hezbollah its primary terrorist targets. But they don't attack the US nor other nations involved in the fight, and are considered by everybody, but Israel, to be small potatoes and not worthy of attention. How many Al Qaeda members has Israel killed and imprisoned? Who's a moron?
As a matter of fact, Osama bin Ladin was recorded in a filmed interview saying he attacks the US as an enemy because of its support of Israel. Khalid Sheik Mohammad is also on record as having made the same statement. The US has sacrificed tremendously because of that support, and Israel should not be allowed to forget it. Americans are beginning to question our unnatural relationship with Israel. We get little benefit from it. It has been a terrible investment. Fred in #4 is absolutely right. I didnt realize only Muslims killed in the name of religion. Most of the world believes Zionists did some of that too.
Dear Editor Can you please explain me what Haaretz think about Gaza war?are you [or Mr Levy, also furious]
It's amazing how people like you can make such declarative statements about CIA when you nothing about it. CIA doesnt discuss its activities in the media, so how do you come up with such information. The suicide bomber in Khost was not a NOC. If he were you would never know it. A NOC is a non-official cover officer. He is a CIA officer who does not use official US government employment as his cover. He is an American CIA operations officer. The bomber was not a CIA officer. How silly! There has never been a NOC in CIA history who was a double agent. In fact, if one were recruited by another intelligence service, he would not be called a double agent. Amateurs are alway confused by that term. CIA may have misestimated the loyalty of the bomber, but he was a CIA or Jordanian recruited agent, and as such not fully trusted by either service, and would not be until he proved his bona fides. He was certainly not anyones "teammate." Mossad has had the same problems.
When will you stop being so damn delusinoal and start seeing reality??? Islam is the problem...always has been always will be. Israel just happens to be in the forefront in the war against terrorists...yes palestinians, Syrians, iuranians and Saudis who want nothing short of a total muslim dominated world! Wake up you morons!
using your logic, say the native indigenous north american indians decided they want all their land back, and to get it, they started indoctrinating their children from 3 yrs old to suicide bomb torontonians...then from the SANCTUARIES of their reservations, they start firing rockets into downtown toronto, would you get up and move back to wherever your family originally came from? or would you demand your gov't stop it? pierre trudeau enacted the war measures act for far less... in israels case, the land was always at least partly theirs..in canada's case, it is all stolen land...ethnically cleansed of it's rightful owners. so mr bigshot, what would you do? .....LOL ..you sir are living on stolen land..shame on you.

"It`s simple, NO rockets = NO war. His fury was misplaced. Then again, do terrorists ever need an excuse." It's simple, NO OCCUPATION, DEHUMANIZATION, BLOCKADES, AND SO ON = NO Rockets. You need to get your head out of your ass, you cant eat the cake and keep it by stealing it from others.
The only people who act and kill in the name of religion are your fellow muslims. You're clearly too dumb to understand what they keep telling you. Apart from the rest of the rubbish in your post, even Bin Laden himself didn't allege that 9/11 was in response to Israel vis a vis the Palestinians. I guess your cousins are currently shooting up Copts in Cairo out of anger against Israel as are also the suicide bombers in Pakistan and all those other countries worldwide under Israel's control.
Dear Fred are you for real or just a a chap with a strange sense of humour?...
I thought it was Islamists worldwide who have MASSACRED TENS OF MILLIONS since the UN was created? As a Jew i look in the mirror every day and try to improve. Seems as though the Islamic way is blow yourself up and blame the Jews for all your problems. Hopefully the West will wake up before there is nothing left to fight over. There is no difference between Hamas and Al Qaida they have the same roots and the same aim, just going about it in different ways. MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD.
U.S. security was lax and that should be fixed. It appears the person's reasons were ignored, so the al Qaeda leadership could claim the attack was to serve THEIR purposes. In other words, they are definitely NOT a unified group with singular purposes and the leadership is quite willing to lie to and use individuals for the leadership's purposes. I wonder, what other group in the world acts that way. Is it a valid "fingerprint"?
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the mother of all conflicts presently and we in the West are paying the price in terms of security and treasure. The 5.5 million Jews in Israel expect a lot from us.We better smarten up.
This Jordanian should have been FURIOUS at Hamas for launching 8000 rockets at innocent Israelis. If not for those rockets, there would not have been this war. Cause and effect. It's simple, NO rockets = NO war. His fury was misplaced. Then again, do terrorists ever need an excuse.
This is war. Total war. It is all or nothing. Anybody who believes in a negotiated solution is either a moron or a liar.
Im in full agreement with you. This is their own little WOT. Since the UN isnt helping them much by way of our constant veto it seems they are taking matters into their own hands. The Israeli supporters will vehemently deny this and blame it on "islamofascism" but this all has a connection to whats going on in this conflict.
He was deeply moved by human suffering. A doctor, he chose to work at a clinic for poor people, largely the descendants of Palestinian refugees. There Islamists influenced him. He was so distraught by the suffering caused by Cast Lead that he tried to join a group of Jordanian doctors who were to be allowed to go to Gaza. The Jordanian police arrested him, threatened his family, 'turned' him, and released him according to some accounts. Did they turn him against or into an islamic terrorist? I doubt if we will ever know the whole story, much of it went up in smoke with Humam Khalil Abu Mulal Balwali. Now the Jordanians are insisting Balwali went to Pakistan on his own and later contacted them offering to 'help' them. jordanians are not in Afghanistan, Americans are. The 'victims' were Americans varying from critical CIA analysts to Xe (aka Blackwater) thugs. A crucial CIA station in Afghanistan was effectively wiped out. Who 'turned' the humanitarian inhumane?
Once again, the US is paying for Israeli sins. First it was Bin Laden who was avenging the treatment of the Pals. Now, we lose 7 more for the same reason. Some day soon we'll learn that we can't continue to run interference for every stupid move the Israelis make in the name of religion.
Seriously speaking, he was a NOC. Many are double agents. The CIA underestimated their teammate. Same applies to Fort Hood. Something that does not happen in Israel. Lessons in terrorism and how to fight them are not yet published, for the US cannot believe that in its relatively short period since 9/11 that they have mastered said art. Surely, Israel have the gurus. Then again, Israel has been fighting terror since Statehood. Some may well ask, why does Israel not trust but its own.? Answer, check out Khost. Good day.
The paper name claims Jerusalem is Arab "Al-Quds Al-Arabi," can it report truth ?
I'm also furious about being subjected to 8 years of missiles being fired at me from Gaza. Does that mean that I'm going to strap a bomb on and turn myself into a human bomb? Who cares about what the excuses these jihadis have for their slaughter? If he wanted to kill the people responsible he should have blown up the Palestinian leadership who have completely mis-served their people.
