Report: 18 die in bomb attack on Iran Revolutionary Guards bus

IRNA news agency: Unclear if dead are Revolutionary Guards troops; two arrested in connection with attack.

By Reuters

TEHRAN - Eighteen people were killed on Wednesday when a bomb exploded next to a bus owned by Iran's Revolutionary Guards in southeast Iran, where security forces and armed groups often clash, Iran's IRNA news agency said.

Other news agencies put the death toll lower and an official in the governor's office in the city of Zahedan, where the bombing occurred, said the exact number killed was not yet clear.

The bomb was hidden in a car and exploded as the bus, belonging to a unit that transports employees of the Guards, passed by, IRNA reported. It was not clear if those killed were members of the Guards.

"In this act 18 Zahedan citizens have been martyred. Rebels and those who create insecurity martyred these people in a terrorist act by laying a trap close to a bus," Qassim Rezai, a military commander, was quoted as saying by IRNA.

Iran's student news agency ISNA said 17 to 18 people had been killed and injured in the incident that happened around 6.30 A.M. local time. The semi-official Fars News Agency cited eight dead, the same number cited by IRNA in its initial report.

A spokesman in the Zahedan governor's office confirmed the incident but said he was still waiting for figures on the number killed. "Two people have been arrested," he told Reuters, without giving further details.

Four people were in the car which appeared to be broken down on the road, Fars said. When the bus approached, the four fled on motorbikes parked nearby and the car exploded. One of those detained had a video camera and another had explosives, it said.

Zahedan is close to the border with Pakistan and Afghanistan. There are often clashes in the area between security forces and armed groups involved in the drugs trade and smuggling.

Yesterday I was told that if I was born a Muslim that I would be a Jihadist. So I decided to see if it was true and I went to the local Imam and lo and behold he convinced him. So I went home and got my Syrian passport that Mossad had provided me, got on a flight to Cyprus connected to Tehran, rented a car, got the bomb our local Mossad operative. Drove to Zahedan and got them RGs. It must be right that being born a Muslim causes murder.

The so-called Revolutionary Guards are a replica of Waffen-SS of Nazi Germany. Absolutely ruthless, fanatically faithful to the ruling party and its leader, ready to kill anyone, including their own compatriots. So that it's good 18 of them have been blasted. Anyway, they will never kill a human being again.

despite both your country and India's having nuclear arms, your's will continue to fester in overcrowding, economic laggard, disease, sectarian strife (Sunnis killing Shia and Christians, Sunni on Sunni fighting), and mass unemployment and discontent, while India (Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Zoroastrian Parsis, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Christians, and yes Athiests) will advance into a first world economic powerhouse, possibly even challenging the USA and China with its GDP, and raising the quality of life for all its citizens. Because their societal attitudes care about advancing their peoples' well being, not like yours who only want to shape all of life's struggles as external dar al harb kufar fighting the faithful Muslims and humiliating them and thus being responsible for all your problems.

when a Muslim dies. Yes, how could have you guessed: Israel trained Al-Qaeda, Saddam Hussein, and even the murderers of Daniel Pearl all to serve their ends to destabilize the Muslim people and defame the religion of Islam. Your incredibly foolish and shortsighted, if not bigoted comments, above reveal why your country stands no chance of economic improvement and parity with your rival India. Because rather than accept the responsibility where it lies for problems in Muslim societies, in this incident's case internal Iranian discontent, maybe drug dealers wishing to send a message to Revolutionary Guards, you immediately have to blame YOUR OWN enemies. When Sikh extremists asssasinated Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Indian gov. didn't say that Pakistani Islamic extremists were really behind it, they took responsibility for an internal Sikh irrendist threat to state sovereignty and tried to mend differences and disputes with its Sikh minority in Punjab. That is why despite both of.

As you guys know this area is close to Pakistani and Afghani border. An anti-Iranian Al-Qaida-related terrorist Sunni Wahabi extremist group called 'jandallah' is operating in the area with the reported support of terrorist states of the USA, UK and Israel. You might wonder USA, UK and israel supporting an A-Qaida-related Wahabi terrorit group????? Well, yes, because they are the top hypocrats. They have always aided terrorists for their ideological and political aims in Asia, Africa and Latin America. And it doesn't matter who the terrorists are. So, in this case, they are being supported to act against the Iranian government and people. It is not established as yet who is responsible for this attack but the suspicions are on this group.

Do they really think they are immune??? Not surprisingly, I'm sure they do. With the leader they have, he can attempt to justify anything!!!

Gee with that in mind you realy don't want them to have nuclear capablity. Mind you, the Mossad could nick all their energy (the one generated by the reactor for non violent purpose) and feed the Zionist... Any way, I bet you are clicky neighbour aren't you?

It was reported in Al Jazeera earlier today, that Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki blamed Zionist sources for today's bomb explosion which killed 18 innocents . This should surprise absolutely no one. This is the Mossad's trademark. Only Israel gains by instilling terror and infighting within Iranian society. The hope is of course to deflect energies and resources intended for Iran's nuclear energy program and to promote instability, infighting and ultimately civil war inside Iran.
