Protesters rally in Australia, N.Z. against IDF action in Lebanon
Man arrested in Auckland for pulling American flag off roof of U.S. mission; demonstrations held in Indian-controlled Kashmir.
By News AgenciesProtesters took to the streets of major Australian cities Saturday to call for a halt to Israel's attacks on Lebanon.
Across Indian-controlled Kashmir, businesses and schools were shut down Saturday in protest at Israel's continuing air strikes on southern Lebanon.
"We just want to give a message that peace is the only solution," said Keysar Trad, a prominent Muslim representative and organizer of a demonstration in Sydney that drew 10,000 people.
"It's just a terrible, terrible human catastrophe that's taken place because of the bombing. We have to do what we can to put an end to it."
Trad, the founder of the Islamic Friendship Association, said he had assured the 400 police on duty in the city centre that Saturday's march would be peaceful.
"We will not tolerate any violence, we will not tolerate any racism, we will not tolerate anything that does not serve the cause of peace," he said.
Amongst the crowd were toddlers wearing printed T-shirts with the slogan: "Stop killing the babies."
Former Guantanamo Bay detainee Mamdouh Habib was among those leading the march.
Last week Lebanese-born Trad was at the centre of controversy after accusing Australian Prime Minister John Howard's government of racism for not responding quickly enough to evacuate Australia citizens from Lebanon.
"This government is initiating racism here," Trad said. "There are signs of the federal government breeding racism."
He also accused the government of siding with Israel in the latest round of violence instigated by the Hezbollah militia in southern Lebanon.
"Our government is caught up in the constant blind support of the Israeli government," he said.
At a rally in Melbourne that drew 500 protesters, deputy chairman of the Australian Arabic Council (AAC) Taimor Hazou said Canberra had failed to put pressure on Israel to stop the bombardment.
"Our influence is insignificant," Hazou said. "Australia has done the bidding of Israel and the US, yet the impact and relevance of this relationship is negligible when it concerns Australians or Australian interests."
In Auckland, New Zealand, a man was arrested Saturday when he climbed on the roof of the United States Consulate and pulled down the American flag during a demonstration against Israel's bombing of Lebanon, news reports said.
About 200 protestors marched through the city, condemning comments by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who said Washington would not support a cease-fire in the Middle East.
Another 100 people staged a demonstration without incident in the capital Wellington.
The Kashmir protest strike call was given by Syed Ali Shah Geelani who heads the hard-line faction of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, the region's main separatist alliance.
Jammu-Kashmir is the only Muslim-majority state in India, where more than 80 percent of the population is Hindu. Militants have been conducting an insurgency to wrest the region from Indian control since 1989. More than 66,000 people have died.
Angry protests were held in several parts of India on Friday against Israel's military action. Protests erupted soon after Muslim prayers Friday afternoon in Kashmir, the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, and Hyderabad, the capital of the southern Andhra Pradesh state - all areas with large Muslim populations.
Geelani, 76, was put under house arrest for the day, said an officer at the police control room, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak to the media.

You're probably one of the people who justify the kidnapping of soldiers, a clear GC violation, while calling for the destruction of a sovereign as fighting for "liberation". You probably also claim Israel should trade the hostage for Palestinian terorists in Israeli prisons. Yet the Jews never called for the destruction of Britain. More importantly, the Kind David Hotel was the military headquarters for the British army. In addition, shortly before the bombings, the army had raided Jewish immigration group offices and confiscated lots of papers. Also, 2,500 Jews were in British jails. Finally, after years of denying it, the British government heard evidence in 1979, from a Brit, that they had received a warning. So why isn't attacking a military HQ "war"?? I avidly await your bigoted rationalizations.
Hurray for you Margarita! Time to tell terrorists their days are numbered without some payback. To seal, as an American I feel somewhat ashamed of you. If your city was hit over and over with rockets what would you want your country to do for you? Send roses? Or didn't you know the terrorists are setting off rockets, we don't hear much 'porportionately' about that little fact.
I feel the same way! God bless & protect Israel!
If israel stopped it's attack on lebanon, hizbullah would continue its rocket attacks on israel, and civilians would continue to die. People are blaming excessive violence on israel, yet, if lebanon had the guts to use it's army against hizbullah, it would promptly be driven from the country and israel would have no reason to attack lebanon. Lebanon does not use it's army against hizbullah because of pressure from syria and iran. Lebanon allows rocket attacks from within its boarders on israel. If this was the case with any other two counties on the earth, i doubt that the victem's right to defend itself would be disputed. Yet, we see antisemitics, jew haters, once again claim israel as a villain in the situation regardless of the 60 odd year arab war to wipe zionism and jews from the earth. According to shia (muslim) law, it is ok for jews to be slaves, but not for them to have their own country. I am proud of israel fighting back against these antisemites.
...understand what's going on or they are islamo-fascist sympathizers! Hezbollah is the enemy that has caused every death in Lebanon, NOT ISRAEL!
And God bless them all.
God bless Israel as she breaks the back of Hezbollah!
Disproportionate force was used when the international community fought to help Muslims in Kuwait and Bosnia. The international community also used disproportionate force in Afghanistan after that government was unable to remove the terrorists from Afghanistan. The international community destroyed bridges, roads and power plants in order to win those wars. They understood that proportionate force would allow the war to continue forever, because no side could ever win or lose. Many innocent Muslims would still be dying in Kuwait and Bosnia if proportionate force was used. Those who support the use of proportionate force against terror groups are giving terrorists a green light to continue killing innocent people in places like India or Indonesia, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt where most of the terror victims are Muslims. How many more Muslims must die, because some keep insisting on using only proportionate force against terror groups?
There are so many wonderful brothers and sisters caught in the middle of this Hezbollah terror trap and I pray the Lord will deliver them from these Islamo-fascist criminals that are joined with Hamas, Fatah, and the Iranian hate machine.
This should mean more Hizbollah dead and less civilians.
Anti war protestors world-wide! You better focus your protests against: -Iranian nuclear devices program -N.Korea long-range missile launching threath -Islamo-Terrorist sponsor goverments like Syria Israel, here we are many who stand with you!
Those terrorist sympathizers are just as bad as the terrorists themselves. They should join "their brothers" in Hizbullah, so that we can destroy them all, and destroy the Islamic wrath against Israel. Long live peace, freedom, and democracy! Down with terrorists, and their helpers (and sympathizers)! It is a shame that so many people across the globe support never ending terror.
Speaking of hating terrorism, former Israeli PM Netanyahu was celebrating the 60th anniversary if one of the most famous acts of terrorism in the world. The Jewish resistance's bombing of the King David Hotel. If Jews are so much against terrorism, what is this clown doing putting up a plaque to commemorate it?
...between a peaceful protest and an islamo-fascist terrorist protest where people get killed over cartoons or for having differing opinions about islam. Does that answer your question.
Brod, are you saying that the muslims don't have the right to protest? Additionally, if protesting for ones native country is a treason then why jews in every country fight for the rights of Israel first and have more loyalty to Israel than the countries they live in? Mike
Someone has forgotten to tell these protesters that Hizballah is not being disarmed by Lebanon, not accepting Israel, not looking for peace. Behind the sound bites most Lebanese know this, they just can't (or don't have the balls to) say it. Ok, the bombing is brutal. I wince when watching the news. But why aren't these protesters protesting Hezbollah? THESE AREN'T YOUR FRIENDS...
Carrying banners with " We want to live under Koran!" or "Jews, beware!.Leave Israel and go to countries of your origin!" That's the kind of truth ,you desire so much, the Wise One from Houston. p.s. Those were the people burning our flags under "Cartoon riots".You participated,no doubt.
Protest rally in Israel, Germany and other countrys against war criminal Israel.
I think it is a known fact that Pakistan supports the terrorist organisations in Kashmir. The fate of us Hindus there is similar to the Israelis. We're constantly attacked by the Muslims forever. However, India's secularist policies prevent us from waging an open war on Pakistan's terrorist groups. I recently met a Kashmiri Muslim in Seattle and eventually we got into a political discussion about Kashmir and Islam in general. He stated the ultimate goal of Pakistan was to take over India and to establish a Calipha state all over south east Asia. His wife then stated that they believed that Allah would instruct his warriors to destroy the Jews and make everyone who isn't Muslim to convert. This is their ultimate goal. So I imagine, this isn't about Israel, its about anyone who isn't a Muslim. Surprisingly, the person who said this to me works in a prominent IT company in Seattle and his wife is a double major. Shalom and Jai Hind!
The Auckland rally was led by rebel rouser Anjum Rahman. She was a Labour candidate forParliament. She is a fundamentalist Moslem born and raised in NZ. Her family is from NIndia, but she champions Hizbollah and Hamas. Welcome tothe Islamic Labour Party New Zealand First
Lebanon is a free country, or isn't it? As it happens, a free country cannot be occupied by terrorists (as per U.N. definition) that attack and kill one's neighbors. It is a tragedy what "Arab freeedom fighters" did over the years to such a charming and peace-loving country that has not been truly free for many, many years. As far as the demonstrations are concerned ... do you remember what happened after Mahomed's cartoons were published? This is the type of people the civilized world must fight against.
Do the soldiers of Hizballah warn the northern residents of Israel that they are sending katushas or do they just do it? Why is it that only Israel gets lauded for protecting her borders and citizens? Does Nasarallah really care for the "freedom of Lebanon" and from whom? Does he really care about the Palestinians or only about his own power in the making? What a one-sided world!
all of you fools protesting and calling this war disproportionate. Forget that it was Israel and the "zionists" perpetrating these actions. Pretend that it wasnt a people you naturally hate. Russians, what did you do becuase Chechnian rebels terrorized you last year? Israel was disproportionate, you leveled the entire chechen country. Australians, what would you do if (illegitimate) terrorist attacked your soldiers. Dont call israel a military occupation. In 1997 under Clinton and the Oslo accords, Israel offered Arafat 97% of the land he requested, he turned it down. IN 2000 Israel pulled out of Lebanon and the terrorist took it for Israeli weakness. UN resolution 1559 was passed and the UN, an anti israel organization even delegitimzed Hezbollah and waranted their disarmament. Last year Israel unilaterally pulled out of Gaza strip, only to be harmed by rockets. You guys are all fools. What must israel do to be proportionate? What must it do to survive?
We know there will always be anti-Israel/antisemitic demonstrations. How many of the terror supporters/"peaceniks" demonstrated against the Arab states who attacked Israel in 1948, 1959, 1967 and 1973? It just goes to prove that antisemitism is alive and well, and that many people will still support the murder of Jews.
Israel is at war with Syria & Iran via it's proxy Hexbollah. It is not a war of Israels chosing but it has no alternative but to neutralise an evil terrorist organisation. In the 2nd World War thousands on innocent Germans died in the bombing. Do we blame the RAF ? I would have thought the nazis were responsible . So in the same way Hezbollah is responsible for every fatality
What the article fails to mention is that the protester attempted to replace the uS flag for a palestinian flag. They held placards with the usual hate Israel slogans and dressed up young children as jihadists. Now compare the meeting in support of Israel held at the Orthodox Synagogue in Auckland. No hatred, no unruliness, just a large dignified gathering of Jews & Christians praying for and supporting Israel.
1) You might not talk like a Southerner, but I grew up in Texas. If I decide to use the contraction, you should be quick enough to understand it's not referring to you but an affectation (BTW: I've used it before on these boards, and not just to talk to Aussies). 2) I've seen plenty of non-Islamic posts from down under that support the Lebanese position 3) yes, I know there are some smart Aussies 4) "What the English did to the aborigines"? Ahh, if you don't like it, it was English. I get it. That it was official Australian policy that Aborigines weren't allowed to vote until 1963 and that the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission wasn't eliminated until 2004 makes it an "Australian" not an "English" problem.
and you people trying to delegitimize Israel self-defence. AND HOW IS THAT? Why dont the Israelis have the right to defend themselves? THE JIHADISTS THEMSELVES SPEAK OUT WHAT THEIR GOAL IS, AND STILL YOU, useful idiots, blaME iSRAE? PROTEST AGAINST THE TERRORISTS AND I WILL GO WITH YOU
and not 500,000 as orginally posted. Making 900,000 homeless for 2 captured IDF soldiers is more than disproportional. Neither does our own cost - more than 10 soldiers and many civilians killed - stand in proportion to an unrealstic objective of freeing them by force. A negotiated solution would have been way cheaper.
"comprehensively documents massacres and maltreatments of Aborigines since 1788" All foreign nationals' protests must be rejected on the grounds of their own past. Ausralia: Aborigines racism US, Canada: Blacks and Indians racism Germany, Austria,...: Nazi past Arabs states: Enemies are not allowed to speak anyway ... In short, nobody is allowed to speak up (unless in support of the rocket war). Interesting that all those warmongers try to change the subject, by attacking foreign nationals for failures way back in their own past (of which they already largely drew conclusions). If the talkback isn't about PRESENT events then what is it good for?! Trying to change the subject as Geoff does won't make look Israel any better.
Israelis and the Americans have a bigger goal, after Syria pulled out, this is when the planning was stepped up to occupy Lebanon again. If US is sending Israel another shipment of precisions bombs,Iran and Syria should also be supplying Hizbollah with more advance weapons. There is one thing to look for terrorists or resistance fighters, but to collectively punish a whole nation is what Isarel goals are.Notice how they claim they have no fight with the Lebaonese people,at the time they have murdered hundreds, then they give them warnings to get out,how can they leave when bridges and roads are damaged,so hundreds more will be murdered by these Israelis terrorists. By destroying the infrastructure and denying them of basic services, destroying their homes, this is called collective punishment. If these two captured soldiers are in Syria or IRan, what will these cowards Israeli government do next. Bombing Iran, will be ahuge mistake, the IDF will be operating from the Pentagon.
So 5000 protest in Australia? what percentage of the population is that? Insignificant..you would think given the lefts hype there would be half a million. Looks like most ausies either support Israel or dont care. The same in the UK. Protests against the Iraq invasion rose to 100000. In this case its not either a tenth of that figure.Again it looks like either most londoners support Israel or dont care. Its ironic. In this case I think Israel is commiting a massive war crime. They are knowingly bombing civilians in Lebanon and there is no justification. Still no one really cares..
"Protesters rally in Australia, N.Z. against IDF action in Lebanon" Are the names of the protesters Smith, Jones and Winston, or Jabarin, Nabulsi and Khalili? Ha'aretz doesn't say. But it makes a big difference.
firstly we don't talk like Southerners. Secondly and more importantly, the rally was organised and attended mainly by Muslims, collective guilt about what the English did to the aborigines is more than irrelevant here.
Let me get this straight... so when Israel suffers one unprovoked attack after another you guys sit quietly, but the second Israel responds and bombs the s*** out of Hezbollah, a terrorist group even by UN standards, suddenly you are appalled. Excuse me if I don't give a damn what you think. Go and protest until you're blue in the face. Your actions do not make a difference.
...to receive and believe in Yeshua (Jesus) and you can drop all of those legalistic man-made rules that were needed before Christ paid the price for all of our sins, Jew and Gentile. Satan is a legalist and loves all of those rules and regulations that keep you from having a real personal relationship with the one true God.
RAW: I'm an iconoclast that's why I'm a painter, you just indistinctively love images what makes you a graphist or better: pictor! None of this private stuff is meant to belittle the sufferance of the Lebanese civilian population. I'm doing what I can to soothen their suffering with my twocents.
Catherine: "Muslim fascists already overrun the host countries" I share your fear. In particular we should no longer accept Palestinian refugees created by Israel. We must force them to stay in the occupied territories!
I am ashamed to be an American. The Israeli hostilities are a disgrace.
This protest means nothing. The protestors were arabs, mainly shias and left-wing rent a crowd. In fact with my experience of working with non-arab Australians, (that's nearly all), they would have been revolted by the protestors whom were exhibiting a partisan islamofascist view. The feelings in Australia range from total support of Israel's fight against Hizbollah to a worry about Lebanese women and children, but apart from the usual suspects, almost zero support for arabs as arabs, in fact the average Aussie, because of local arab criminality - out of all proportion to population numbers, can't stand arabs. And as for gratuitous, ignorant remarks about "aboriginal problems", Australia has a difficult situation with the small number of indigeonous people who can't decide whether they want to live in the 21st century - people whose situation has been aggravated by false advice over the last 30 years, by the same left-wing mob who "protested" today.
...Lebanon. What about Israel???!!! HEZBOLLAH IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DESTROYING LEBANON!!! DID YOU EXPECT ISRAEL TO KEEP PUTTING UP WITH THE DAY IN AND DAY OUT TERRORIST ATTACKS!!!
over 5000 people march for peace in melbourne today and called for a cease fire and international intervention to stop the bombing . violence only breeds more violence .. return to the negotiating table
Something tells me we know each other personally. Maybe it's only the choice of your alias... The use of thrilling photos is a surely a good tool to the illiterate in order to belittle overt genocidal whishes by those who provoked this shit. I rather prefer to stick my head into analysis than to letting myself to be overmoved by pictorial material caused by who incontrastedly shoots from behind innocent victims. Lebanon has a government, and it does nothing else than surrender itself to its proper helpless cowardness! Nobody, but the crank, wishes Lebanon to face another Civil War, but no Israeli, included me, would give its proper live for the Lebanese Government's weakness in dealing with foreign (Khizb'ullah) terrorists it can't absolutely deal with (and showing that inability, along with its total insovereignity, thoroughly).
The truth is that your Arab friends are getting the living shit kicked out of them for being stupid., and quite frankly who gives a shit about the protesters, we know that they are Arabs and their sympathisers, like you.
"Muslim fascists already overrun the host countries. The time is not so far away, when the populace MUST convert to islam, all women will have to wear burkhas, forbidden to drive, to work, to go out of the house." [catherine] A person of your age should know that a similar fear and smear propaganda was aired nearly 70 years ago but against another religion. The problem aren't the different religions, the problem are people that cannot tolerate other religions like you do. FYI, my religion also commands me not to drive - on Shabat.
Somtimes ex-military men are not the smartest people in the US. These terrorist are supported by the 2 worst terrorist nations in the world, Iran and Syria. I guess Israel should just suck it up. Remember the Cuban missile crisis. The Russian got scarred and the threat was removed. The next time terrorist strike the US you will hiding in your basement. I am ashamed that my tax dollars paid your salary.
As an Australian, the hypocritical comments of people like Alan are an embarrassment."Blood on the Wattle" by Bruce Elder, comprehensively documents massacres and maltreatments of Aborigines since 1788. An aboriginal recently reminded me just how much racism they face, their sense of hopelessness, and life expectancy more than 20 years less than whites. In his eagerness to criticise Israel, Alan suppresses the fact that he himself is living on stolen Aboriginal land. Unfortunately, local ignorance of Middle East events is fostered by Ed O'Loughlin, a one trick anti-Israel pony from the Sydney Morning Herald. Fortunately, most Aussies are not fooled or too lazy to learn what is really happening..and believe in a fair go for Israel.
1948: Israel got attack by most mayor Arab Forces. It defended itself successfully and caused a migration of (then not so-called) Palestinians to Jordan. 1972: Jordan throws out militant (now so-called) Palestinian forces and Syria forces Lebanon to relocate them into Southern Lebanon. Follows the Lebanese Civil War and battles of Palestinian Forces along with sovietophile Lebanese splinter groups against Israel. Israel defies PLO in Lebanon and later on starts talks to settle Palestinian Nation in West Bank and Gaza. Israel pulls out of Lebanon and Lebanon becomes Syria's and Shi'ite Iranian financers' feud. Iranian financed terrorists fire into Israel, Israel duely responds. Lebanon doesn't react because it fears Civil War. Is that my fault? Or is it Hitler's fault that I still exist? Or maybe its Syria's and Iran's fault? Your choice!
"When we entered Lebanon(1982) there was no Hezbollah, we were accepted with perfume, rice and flowers by the Shia in the south, it was our presence there that created Hezbollah " Ehud Barak, former Israeli prime minister.
The demonstrations aren't against Israel's self defense against Hezbollah attacks - even Arab states condemed Hezbollah for that. The demonstrations are against the disproportional response towards the Lebanese people: That of destroying all civilian infrastructure, killing hundreds civilians, turning 500,000 Lebanese homeless and creating 100,000 foreign national avacuees. I suggest you ask the 6,500 Aussies that are in the process of being evacuated what this got to do with WAR ON TERROR.
and there have also been pro-Israel rallies like this one: http://www.icjs-online.org/orig.php?eid=1507&ICJS=4955&article=940 but didnt get the same news coverage unfortunately.
Dear Roi, pressure on Syria and Iran has been expressed since years, without any tangible result. Even Pope Wojtyla has visited Syria and his spokesman Navarro-Valls during that visit has spread poison against Israel on RAI 1. Pakistan has the bomb, Talebans are far from being defeated, Mush'arab has difficult standing in his proper country. The Iranian bomb is not the problem, terrorists can get easily hands on dirty bombs through (Hijo de) Putin's underpaid nuclear scientists and Siberian deposits left on their own.
The so-called protesters are the paid members of the fifth column. Muslim fascists already overrun the host countries. The time is not so far away, when the populace MUST convert to islam, all women will have to wear burkhas, forbidden to drive, to work, to go out of the house. The men have to wear dirty beards; the others will be executed, beheaded. It is hard to believe, that the ?protesting? countries will stand idly by when racket are raining on them. THE OUTRAGE OF EUROPE AND OTHERS ARE ANGRY, BECAUSE OF THE HATRED OF JEWS, AND CANNOT TOLERATE THAT ISRAEL CAN AND WILL DEFEND THEMSELVES. I wish I would be young, but as an old person, I could still hold an Uzi.
Israel has, if it has, very few covert intelligence agents in Lebanon. You can spot things with GPS coordinates- a lot of Tomtom users in Great Britain lost their cars in a dump yard for blindly trusting GPS data. The Chinese Embassy of Belgrade was a result of erred GPS input, too. Khizhb'ullah notoriously fires from behind civilian human shields into densly inhabitated Israeli civilian aereas, having at their hand informators on location who can easily spot Israeli Military locations using GPS smartphones. Weird enough, no Khizhb'ullah fired device has seriously hit any Israeli Military location. Khizhb'ullah has overtly declared that every Jew and every American on this globe has to be killed, the Lebanese Gov't seems to share it
The truth is leaking, but not the way as Mark said. We all see the change in the attitude (and all it takes is to talk on the street) tnat people are more expsed to the truth about Hesbullah as a terrorist organisation and we as Austalians say NO to terrorists.
I find these Talkback postings both fascinating and sad. The are, of course, statistically meaningless. Nevertheless, the do illustrate the mindless hatred out there in the world. Islamists feel that soil has a religion and that the "Middle East" should be, and is, Muslim. Consequently, Copts in Egypt and Maronites are merely tolerated. I actually heard an Islamic protestor say that Israel should disband itself and agree to live under Islamic sovereinty. Moslems who are Israeli citizens -- despite their constant complaining -- have a higher standard of living than those in surrounding Islamic countries. The only reason I can imagine them wanting an Islamic state is for this earth-is-religion type of reasoning. When will these people learn that culture transends theology. You can't really compare religions, but you sure can compare cultures. Western culture (whatever that may be) may be far from perfect, but it sure beats hiding women in burkas, practicing poligamy.
Where are the postings in which you understand and appreciate Israel's position? Where is your understanding of the true balance of power in the Middle East? You stated that you care for two countries: the US and Israel. If you care for your wife in the same fashion I presume that you are divorced.
If you look closely, Arab nations aren't objecting. Saudi for one is silent. They know the danger of Hizbollah even if you don't understand it, naive westerner!
No one seriously believes that the Lebanese Gov`t would be able to reign in Hezbollah, in particular not by force. How, if even Israel's military might can't do more than 'teaching them a lesson'. The only prospect is to exercise political pressure via Syria and Iran. What's currently going on will bring Hezbollah just more supporters.
As I previously stated in other postings, I am sorry for civilian Lebanese casualties. But, the fact that there is absolute NO Lebanese Gov'tmental Force willing to contrast Khishb'ullah (who started all this violence!) in addition with a statement issued earlier this week by a Lebanese Gov't Envoy to the U.N. saying that Lebanon will not and cannot fight Khishb'ullah terrorists because Khishb'ullah already is part of Lebanese reality, I have to ask myself whether this is not a clumsily overt decvlaration of war against. If it is so, Lebanon stop whinging!
First, the Australian government does not send rockets on the heads of its neighbors. Secondly, why do Israel supporters always excuse their actions by pointing the finger somewhere else, thirdly, you have no clue. The Arabs are fighting to free their land from the real occupiers. The Israelis are fighting to stay in control. Israel can not withstand the fact that democratic Lebanon was getting back on its feet so they destroyed it. Isn?t that the real war crime?
"Organisers predicted up to 20,000 people would attend, but police placed official numbers at about 15,000." as quoted from the Age 22.07.2006)http://www.theage.com.au/news/National/15000-in-Sydney-protest-Mideast-attacks/2006/07/22/1153166619600.html
and maybe they should send all those jewish supporters after they had rallies here because they could be potential jewish extremists! man write before you think!
I see reports of protests here and there outside of Arab countries, but where are the rest of us? Silence is assent. Let us not continue this silence of complicity as we did in Ruwanda, Sudan, Gaza. Speak up, decent people of the world!
i was at the melbourne australia rally and the local news said that there was a max of 5000, i would know this, because my university lecture holds 500 people and thats full during uni time, and im sure there were more than that! israeli policy is not so popular outside israel just because our govt might support your govt's policy doesnt mean that the general public does!
"what about the truth of sending unguided missiles directly into civilian areas with the sole object to kill civilians [Jerry] Hezbollah sends unguided missiles into civilian areas. IDF sends guided missles into civilian areas. The result is the same, civilans get killed. In the later case, the high number of casualties prove that guided missles are more effective in killing civilans. It is supposed to be the opposite - unless you precisely aim at civilians.
Get real, the only reason Israel warns the Lebanese civilians to get out is to empty the land so it can occupies it as it occupied Palestine in 1948 and 1967 and Lebanon in 1978 and 1982. What is really a criminal is the fact that they also attack those civilians that are trying to flee their burnt land. Israel is attacking buses and cars knowing fully that they are full of women and children. The whole worlds see it. That is another example of the war crimes being committed on an hourly basis in Lebanon.
Just because you have collective guilt for the genocide you Aussies perpetrated on the indigenous people doesn't mean you can ignorantly claim that Arab invaders have the "right" to destroy a nation with the local indigenous folks. After all, misery doesn't really love company. Or is it that you hate seeing an efficient military, one that doesn't have Gallipoli to remember? Maybe there's some other reason you support a 58 year old war of the Arabs to destroy a sovereign nation? Lets here it from an Aussie, not from little Mark's normally ignorant rants.
The pictures tell it all. Not war but war crimes. I am disgusted with Hezbollah and I am ashamed of the entirely disproportional response by Israel.
Australia and NZ should deport those Islamist protesters back to their old Islamist countries. They seem to be loyal to their old Islamist countries than to Australia and NZ where they fled to. Such protesters are potential Islamist terrorists.
Haaretz reports a muslim source saying that 10,000 took part in the anti Israel demonstration in Sydney. Police and independant sources indicate that the correct figure was 2000. Haaretz needs to get more reliable sources.
We thank USA and the occidental countries for opposing to call for cease fire. The time has come to teach those Zionist ignorants of history the lesson of civilized values. The time has come to make them crying the day they come to Palestine. The comming days will preveal how much Zionists are ignorant of the people of the Middle East.
What a fool thgis mark must be the truth is out' bs yes it is out thereality is that the truth is to fight back when attaked just what the IDF is doing what about the truth of sending unguided missiles directly into civilian areas with the sole object to kill civilians what about the fact the IDF gives warnings before it tries to eliminate it's enemy target I,m afraid this so-called mark lincoln is a pseudoname for mohamed l...
To see more check this link! more and more and more.... Another Lebanese..
I am retired, an American who was formally irish, and a veteran of the U.S.Army F.A. and i have never ever in my entire life been so disgusted with my country. The man who tore down our flag, thank you. We deserve it. I cannot believe that the Lebanese Army worked right alongside our U.S. Marines to evacuate our citisens from Israeli aggression and shelling, and now we are expediting weapons to Israel for further attacks on those Lebanese. I am ashamed today.
The tune has been called, now it's time to pay the piper. The truth about what is happening in Lebanon is leaking out. Tourists and others are going home and their stories will be good "local human interest" copy. Lebanon isn't Palestine where access is controlled and censorship possible. I wish someone in the Olmert government had thought of this before embarking upon a course of action in most of Lebanon which could accomplish nothing for Israel and which could besmirch the nation for a generation. Too late now to put the genie back in the bottle, or the life back in the dead multitudes. Too late to hide the savage destruction of a nation's infrastructure. Too late to stop the tourists from getting out and telling what they saw. Too late to protect the honor and decency of Israel from those who shoot first and think later.
